I'm a different dog. I always get an odd look ordering neat. I'm not much into adding water even on the high octane. If a bottle doesn't describe, it's probably blended. The 13 does have the heat and characteristics of a blend. I do like the 12 more.
If it's statemented (13 years etc) it's not blended, it's vatted. In order to have a consistent product the distillery will put barrels into a vat and bottle from there. The best barrels will produce single cask, the inferior will be blended across years and sold without a statement or go to companies that will blend whiskies from several distilleries to make blended malt whiskies.

Blended whisky is a blend of malt whisky with grain whisky.

As far as water goes, if the whisky is more than 40% abv it should have water added, it releases the flavour and aroma. Try an experiment, two glasses of whisky, not a full as your picture, need space in the glass. Add a dribble of water, literally half a teaspoon, to one, swirl, compare, try a little more.
Keeping the thread on track, all this talk of whisky...

Australian Sparkling Ale with the windows wide open and my neighbor working on the 'Sclade he bought at the police auction a couple months ago. He got it running today and I couldn't be more happy for him!

He's got a nice mix of old dub, raggae, dance hall, and a spattering of hip hop and Go-Go wafting in through my windows. What a perfect evening!

HB Czech, congratulations, you are hired. HB Hazy, I'm sorry, but there were some issues with your urine screening.
Uhhh. I mean a hefeweizen without the banana and clove, and with a bunch of fruit forward hops... like this one, horrible pic though, must be from that stuff that messed up my urine sample.

Like living in the 12th Century eh? 🤣 I know of 3 styles. There's great beer, okay beer and bad beer. This was okay.
Living in the old days? Breweries knew how to store beer in wooden barrels without imparting wood flavors. The process is still used today by the last tru wood barrel-using breweries.

Do you have a favorite readily available Oktoberfest? Or just a Texas favorite?
