Wasn’t bock fest last weekend? If not it’s coming up.

Yep, last Saturday. I haven’t gone in about 13 years. Went two years in a row back when I was 21-22. It’s too crowded now. They limit the number of people these days. Weather was outstanding and town was jammed. I drove by the entrance line a couple times running errands. Good beer though.

Random photos from the weekend because I'm lazy...

Learning about the town my peeps settled in. That's a hot tea, don't get carried away.

Made some cupcakes, cut the middle out to stuff them, and ate the guts, too.

From someone...I dunno; I'd have to find the bottle to see whose name I wrote on it.

I’ve still got one or two hiding in the basement. I started my cellaring project after that massive porch bomb. You should see it now!! Thank God SWMBO has no idea what these run a bottle!! Can’t say it enough but Thanks again!

Did their October fest a few years back with the in-laws. Did the taste of New Ulm as well (amazing btw) definitely need to do that again!!

A couple guys in my homebrew club are going pro. Brewery is set to open on the 17th, but announced they've been cleared to sell cans (not to be consumed on the premises), as of yesterday. They have 4 beers ready to go and a couple more coming soon. I stopped by last night and grabbed a couple mixed 4pks. Today after work I opened my first one, Fog Crusher a neipa. Really good. The other three beers they have are a German style Pilsner, an Imperial Porter, and a Belgian style triple.

Yep, it’s a neat town. Pretty crazy pocket of German heritage. I grew up a town over, but we weren’t quite as over the top with it haha. Bockfest is worth checking out, but I’d rather roam around downtown during Oktoberfest as well. Usually have to work, but I manage to make an appearance at least.

Speaking of going pro, amember of my club is opening Soul Brewing this Saturday 3/14. The club made a wee heavy with him on his system A few weeks ago. So I’m drinking a fresh wee heavy after six year old one. It took a couple of weeks for this beer to come into its own (overt sweetness faded and yeast esters came through). Really enjoying the chewy maltiness and yeast esters in this one. The two beers look alike: color and good heads, but don’t taste alike at all.

A sample from an experimental super attenuated BSDA that I've been aging in a bourbon barrel. FG on this was 0.992, about 15.5% ABV. Previous samples tasted hot and sweet. Still has the hotness, but the barrel has contributed a little acidity so it doesn't taste sweet now. You feel the alcohol in your nose when you breathe out. Still more of a brandy or liquer taste than a beer taste.

Damn this drinks so smooth for being 11%. Should I expect anything less from The Veil? Heck no! @TheEagleRising & @CTownBrewer are both in for a treat!

Untappd’s Description:
DDH Triple IPA brewed with lots of flaked barley, some raw wheat then hopped with a heavy doses of Galaxy and Citra supported by Nelson, El Dorado, and Vic Secret. Densely saturated with flavors of canned pineapple juice, watermelon, even some cherry.
