Lemon water for one more night, then I’ll be brewing a quick Citra NEIPA, and having some much-anticipated beers!

Finished with the Moto stage for my sakè and just started the first build-up stage called Hatsuzoe. Doesn’t look like much yet, but it’s definitely Sakè in there. Added 1cup of Koji, 2.5cups rice and 2.75cups of water. If you look closely at the photo, the milky stuff in between the rice is a very happy Koji culture getting it on! Woohoo!🥳 It smells amazing and if I was mini, I’d fall into the fermenter from the boozy fumes!! Yes!
Tomorrow is the Nakazoe addition…6cups rice, 1.5cups Koji and 8.75cups water. Lots more steaming to go, as the last addition before the 3 week rest is 5lbs(!!) rice and 20oz Koji, with 1.1gallons water. Whewph!

A flight with dinner, on a beautiful Holiday Friday at a nearby brewery. A flight of five: Golden Ale, Irish Red, Oktoberfest, Honey Kolsch, and an American Light Lager named, “The Lightest Beer We Got.”

All were very good, and my Buffalo Chicken Wrap was excellent.

For dessert, a local interpretation of a West Coast IPA. Hits all the right notes.

The brewery is named Antietam Brewing, and is not far from the Civil War (American) battlefield, the site of the bloodiest day of fighting in any war American troops were involved in.

The Flight carrier is a replica of the iconic bridge over the river at Antietam, where some of the fiercest fighting occurred. Estimates are 26,000 combatant casualties were suffered on that single day.

1872 porter from the handpull. Maybe it's all in my head but the engine just seems to make it better.

I totally agree. I used to belong to a brew club with a lot of british Ex pats. The Real ale event was by far my favourite event of the year. 3 or 4 beer engines and lots of british ales. It's just so much better and more flavourfull i believe.

Little Rose Little IPA, 4.4 ABV, uses mosaic hops, pilsner malt and a super secret house yeast- brewed right up the street at Lone Pint Brewery. It's citrusy and hoppy, its pretty good. HBT on the puter screen in the background, beer sitting in the famous 'BEER CHEMISTRY" glass. It don't get any better than this. :D

Well today is Friday, 4:00. As my Dear Ol’ Dad was known to say, “It’s Miller Time!”

The week’s work is more or less done, so no blender for today! Straight-up Sierra Nevada Electric Torpedo West Coast IPA. I can’t believe that my entire box of IPAs are now gone! Amazing how fast dedicated beer drinkers can chug through a half-rack, eh?

It really is amazing how many IPA variations are being produced. Twenty years ago during the big growth in home brewing and commercial craft brewing, I guess we should have seen it coming. Back then there were maybe 10 different IPAs in the cold case, and growing each time you went there. Today, if I go into the craft brewing section of Total Wine or Bevmo, the IPA choices are absolutely endless.

I did an IPA tour about a year or two ago and was really amazed at the variety of styles, but surprised at the range of production quality as well. While the most IPAs were generally good, it was clear that a lot of these were from limited run or pilot batches. Some of them I suspect canned just to get the batch out the door and get rid of it, brewing crud and all in a number of examples.

Not with Sierra Nevada! This is a fantastic IPA, in fact all of Sierra Nevada’s IPAs are fantastic, as are all their regular and seasonal releases. So good, I may need to go round up another 12 pack of these Hopsters, they’re great! Cheers!

Haven't seen this from Schneider Weisse before. Delicious wheat eisbock made from their doppelbock. Malty, dried fruit/fig, caramel, medium sweet. 12%; alcohol isn't there on the palate but it is apparent by the time you finish it! This is good!

You should be head of their marketing department. 😬
