Hahaha! My personal Way Back Machine remembers those mixers from eons ago.
Kinda surprised they still make 'em 😁
There’s supposed to be a daquiri, a collins, and one other. The whisky sour is the only one I’ve seen. They have them at Walmart and other places. Surprisingly, its not terrible for a lazy way to make a drink. And something different.

Went hiking in a NWR an hour out of town, had a brown bag lunch, then into a nearby town for a brew at Lupulin Brewing.

I had their Vienna lager which was quite nice. Mrs. Stout opted for the Kolsch, which didn't taste like a Kolsch at all. It was good, but over-hopped, more like an APA or IPL. It didn't have those Kolsch nuances. She couldn't finish it so I had to step up. ;)

Ahhh…finally, the first beer in a while, and first of many for the long weekend. Warlock watermelon sour, by local New Level Brewing. It’s a quencher, with true watermelon taste and a nice grain finish. It’s good to have a local, we’ve had 4 awesome breweries shut down in the past year because of fire, Liberal taxes and the tariffs. Drink locally!!

Okay, that sour went down like water, so I’m taking a page from the book of @Rish and having my own Eisbock.😏 Wow, what a great beer. Plum and fig for sure, but might save the other one for autumn. Too hot for brewing today at 31°C (88 F) so I’ll have a go early tomorrow…maybe. Cheers!!🍻

Well here you go. Beer the way the ancient Düsseldorf Brewers Guild would have us drinking it. Two pathetic little 200 ml Dinksters of Altbier!

I do have to hand it to Three Weavers – a historic rendition of authentic Altbier if there ever was one. Clone brewers out there, perk up! – fantastic Alt – copper colored, slight touch caramel flavor but not cloying, 5% ABV, Pilsner with some Vienna and Dark Wheat, Cara Munich and Carafa II malts, tasty hoppy flavor, superb head and lacing, crystal clarity. A super-clean, well-lagered Ale… These are your benchmarks!

These glasses though – REALLY???!!! These look and feel like the children’s jelly glasses we were given once we graduated from drinking milk from a plastic bag or carton with a pointy straw! I mean C’mon! This is what we drink from? Numerous Dinksters and hissy servers all night long and not one big Chugworthy Maßkrug???!!! Girlieglas! Wimps!

Long Shadows strong IPA, from an Alberta local, called Blindman Brewing. Easygoing for 7.1%, hoppy and clean…Moteuka?

There’s a little stream/river called the Blindman…haven’t fished there in years, might even be dried up.
The long shadows, however, are perfect this time of year, along with a true IPA. To the fish!! 🐟 Cheers!

Okay. Started into the heavy. Had one before. Flip Pallot died, but most people are unaware. One of the best saltwater fly anglers in the world died. Sigh.😞 Flip and my old boss were friends. Sigh. To the fish!!🙏
For 20~30 years or so back Flip got me out of bed early Saturdays to watch his Walker's Cay Chronicles. Would not miss it - unless I was off flyfishing somewhere.

It's been a tough few years for fishing greats. Along with Flip, A.K. Best passed this year, and John Gierach (fly tying guru) died last year, and Dave Whitlock the previous year. I met Whitlock, Gierach and Best at various United Fly Tying or Trout Unlimited confabs, never had the pleasure of meeting Flip.

I never met ‘Flip’ but used to work with one of his best friends. I understand what he is doing.

His voice and relationship with Lefty is so precious, and that’s how I remember him. I’m reminded of his standing up cast, strength and 70 footers. Go baby go!!
