One of my workers has an MSc in astrophysics. She is awfully intelligent but said the top spots get filled with even smarter people who are even more passionate for the subject than they are smart. Money doesn't really come into it.
Thanks, in a weird way, that helps...🤔

Loving the open container laws over here - drinking another conbini beer while waiting for my wife in the middle of the subway station 😂

[NO] Heavy drinking: lying down or sitting on the floor

I wondered how Grind City had made it so far north when I saw your pic of Poppys, now I know that you must be visiting. Welcome to Memphis. I work less than a mile from the Peabody (and even closer to the Saucer you were at the other day)

Thank you for the warm welcome. So far, hubs and I are enjoying our stay, and getting out of this lovely yet overpriced hotel, for meals. May I DM you for breakfast ideas? I can’t eat at sugar grits for a few days! It’s so good, and my belly might bust. 😉

I don't really do breakfast downtown but there's some good suggestions in the I Love Memphis blog

https://ilovememphisblog.com/downtownbreakfast

For lunch/dinner, if you like fried chicken, hit Gus' on Front St you'll just need to avoid the construction on Front around Beale.
If you want BBQ, the tourist answer is Rendezvous, which is good but not traditional Memphis style. Central is right next to the Civil Rights Museum and is probably the best Memphis style BBQ you'll find without venturing too far out of downtown.

If you do go to Gus', right across Front Street is Old Dominick Distillery. Old distillery that semi recently reopened and holds the designation of making the first legal whisky in Memphis since prohibition.

@Hoppy2bmerry on a beer related note, you're a short distance away from High Cotton and Grind City as well as Ghost River's taproom on Beale
Thanks a bunch we are planing to visit Ghost river tomorrow and I appreciate the blog post for breakfast and brunch suggestions. Turns out the corner bar has all local drought beer, but the Manhattan was calling my name today.
