Luckily I don't care what it looks like as it'll be all ripped out in 18 months give or take. On a "brighter" note wife is getting shoulder surgery ergo I'm hoping to get 8 weeks or so of Family Leave. BTW, dog is still hanging in there. Hardly eating a thing but still wants to get up and move around.👍

A glass of Henry Weinhard's Private Parts. Nothing interesting, it went into and out of the lager fermenter quickly and filled a keg. It has fulfilled its purpose in life.

UK IPA that was kegged last week. Just Otter, Invert #2 and gobs of EKGs. You smell it when you pour it.

Brew day done (Baltic Porter), gear cleaned and put away. Out on the deck with a HB Kolsch on a 63F day.

Forecast for an inch or two of snow tomorrow night, then back to the 60s next weekend. What a roller coaster ride.

Crazy. Talked to our son today and he said it hit 69° at his house in Rochester today. Supposed to snow tomorrow. Roller coaster ride indeed!!

Back at the farm. HB Fizzy Yellow Lager.

We’d been gone a little over two weeks. When we got back I turned on the gas to the kegerator, opened the valves on the manifold, and heard-nothing. Best sound in the world if you maintain a draft system. Nothing had leaked, not even a little.

It is too cold to drink in the beer garden tonight , only 76°F.

Yep. Supposed to be close to 90 in Austin. Will attempt a pool dip in the afternoon before temps drop again.

OT, electrolyte concoction before a trail walk.

Lunch. Korean BBQ chix sammy

Hudson valley Graven Image

Sour Double IPA with wheat and oat, milk sugar, lime, jasmine and green tea; hopped with Citra and Nelson.

Fox Farm Meadow Witch 16.1%abv

Witch Meadow 2023 was aged in a combination of bourbon barrels from three storied producers - Buffalo Trace (Mash #1), Willet and Knob Creek, the latter being used to produce their limited 18-year old bourbon (twice the age of their flagship). Witch Meadow is blended for complexity from some slightly varied base beers, all double-mashed in the morning and boiled long into the night - and similar to last year, barrel residency time ranged from 33-12 months for a blended average of 20-months. Layered, rich and complex, it’s another meaningful step forward for our small high-gravity stout program.

Bottling leftover from mead started 10/02/2020 and bulk aged since. Pretty tasty. 13.8%

A few years ago I was involved in a three-year mead project. One of our local homebrewers made the mead and asked me to turn it into something special. First, I barrel-aged the mead in my Doppelbock/Scotch barrel. I do a lot of ice beers and decided it would turn the barrel-aged mead into something special, which it did.

Spending a chilly afternoon indoors. Back to winter, in just the last couple hours. This morning we washed the cars in the driveway. Now it's close to freezing, and a little snow on the way.

Found the last couple cans of beer our neighbors brought back for us from Texas, stashed in the back of the fridge. A nice blonde ale.

Don’t bother, it’s not cold enough to activate the brown fat. (I don’t think so anyway)
Couldn't resist the first ever February swim. We had the worst ever ice storm last year this time. We we're out of electricity for 5days. Water temp hit 72.5 though so what a contrast! Cloud cover kept the temp lower though. 👎

For the record, yes I dunked and did the back stroke...to keep my rock hard abs up! 😁
