Bottling this afternoon; for the 1st time had a drip around the bucket spigot. Attempting to rectify the problem, I made it far worse. Lovely beer pouring down the side. I could not think of any other alternative, so I plunged my arm down into the bucket to tighten the nut on the back. I did coat it with starsan and had just had a shower. So, what are the chances the batch will come out ok?

Might want to get yourself a second bucket... I'd trade off the possibility of oxidization vs infection, but you're probably fine. It's after the primary so there's lots of alcohol in the beer to, hopefully, kill off any nasty beasties that were on your arm.

i did that the first time I made wine - It worked out fine. My guess is you should be ok to go.

here is the thing: either it will be fine or it wont, worst case you have to drink it all really fast after its carbonated- if you are really concerned you might want to do this to avoid the possibility of bottle bombs if you had an infection.

no pathogens can grow in beer from what I understand, so it won't kill you if the worst happens.

Thanks for the reassurance. The thought of all that going to waste is painful. My wife refuses to let me name if hand job ipa if it works out...
