Let's make this short and to the point. My boyfriend is new to homebrewing and he really wants a portable keg. This https://www.security-shopping-cart.com/mb/Prod_Portable2.5GallonKeg-Picnic.cfm one to be exact. I was wondering if I could get something similar for maybe a little cheaper. Only becuase this is such a new hobby and I don't know if this is one that he will stick with. Any suggestions from you guys? I love drinking beer, but I know little to nothing about the entire brewing process. HELP!!!!

I have 3 gallon kegs and use a 20 oz paintball tank. You can use the 1st poster's link and select the 20 oz paintball tank with adapter and you are at the same cost for your system. 20 oz is enough to carbonate and dispense several kegs and should be cheaper than the cartridges in the long run.

Here is a link for a 3 gal keg at a good price if you want to piece it together.

Why the small corny? Lack of space in the fridge?
5 gallon corny's are way cheaper.

Another option, but with a little bit less volume (about 2 gallons VS 2.5 gallons) and more "self contained" (no dangling hoses and such)

In fact, if you look at the "Frequently bought together" link towards the middle of the second link (the one with the tap), you can click the add all three to cart for all three items you'll need. The Keg, tap system and the keg bung (the bung is really used to store the keg when not in use to keep it clean). All said and done $114.53.

You'll also need the keg chargers as well, pack of 12: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001N0TVC4/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

You came to the right place, we'll get you sorted out! For the keg portion: http://www.homebrewing.org/3-Gal-Loose-HandleBottom-Pin-Lock-Keg-Used_p_4678.html

Best deal you will be able to find. It is pin lock, but could be converted to ball lock if needed. They have conversion kits on sale for like $10. If you decide to go that route, I would call them to place the order so they could match the correct kit with the keg. Does he already have any kegging equipment?

I just put together a 2.5G portable keg system. I did a 24 oz. paintball tank with an adapter and regulator; 2.5G keg; got connectors / hoses from my local homebrewshop. About $250 all together, fits beautifully in a portable cooler for summer parties.
