I'm doing a Vienna smash beer tomorrow and wondered which hop to use. Was thinking either
Mosaic or Cascade. Any experiences with either? Also what would the ideal mash temp for Vienna (I'm using Denny's 1450 yeast).

Either hop would be good. I have done a Cascade SMaSH so I can attest to that being good. Mosaic is next on the SMaSH list though. As far as mash temp, with 1450 I would go for 152-154°F (66-68°C).

Well, I'm mashing at 152 right now. The mosaic will go in later. Cheers for the replies. My first smash after 40ish batches. I'll update in 3 weeks!

I did a Vienna smash but I pulled a double decoction.
And went traditional with Sterling hops.
One of my favorite beers to date. A definite rebrew

Interesting, may try this. What do your Mosaic hop additions and amounts look like? IBU?

If you like a fruit punch go with mosaic if you want something a little more reserved, cascade. Mosaic is a very fruity hop IME.

That said i drink beer "green" a lot. I have a mosaic blonde ale now in the keg that i'm naturally carbing so i hope the hop smooths out a bit. Funny thing is i liked my last mosaic blonde better at days 12-14 then i did afterwards. Super fruity even at 15 IBU.

Boiling tonight (kids in bed then!). Was thinking half ounce at 60 then 3 oz at flameout and 2-3 oz dryhop. Not sure of ibu's but should be fruity enough with that amount.
