In preparation for our upcoming expansion into the realm of all-grain brewing, my wife & I purchased a Victoria grain mill from the local homebrew supply. Anyone familiar with them knows that these need to be mounted to something, and since I don't have any ready surfaces, a build needed to happen. I browsed through the forums here and saw some pretty cool builds so I was inspired to go deep with this one and build something that is going to last me for quite a while.

Below is a photo of the finished product, and here is a link to the project as it crawled along:

Thank you. It is notched and then the wood reinforced with an aluminum plate where the clamp pinches.

I'm disappointed, this is by no means comical, ugly junk. I was under the impression that these mill set-ups were supposed to be ugly and cobbled together.

I'm happy for him. I don't have this level of finish on my MM3.

With that level of finish, he needs a big old pulley mounted halfway out of the top to a motor underneath. That really is a really nice job.

Thanks all. And if you notice the off-centered nature of where the mill is mounted, I left myself room for a motor to be mounted in the future. I haven't done the research yet to find out what motors people favor for these units, but I knew I wanted one. That pulley will happen!

The lower the rpm the better. One pretty much have 2 choices in the reasonably priced range. 1750 rpm and 3450 I think. Get the 1750 and the smallest pulley you can get and the largest pulley that will fit.

A very large pulley would be bitchin with that cabinet. Just saying.

Good to know. I'm thinking an antique barn pulley would likely do the trick. Maybe with a fresh coat of red vintage farm implement paint.
