Today I bottled 5 gals of a real good pumpkin ale that I primed with brown sugar. Hoping the brown sugar makes it that much better. I washed the yeast and got 4 nice pint jars with a good amount of yeast in each one and...... made me a mash tun :rockin: Will be doing my first all grain this weekend. Still deciding what to brew. Thinking about an imperial coffee stout for st pattys day.

Heres my tun, its holding water and im monitoring for temp loss now. Looks good sofar. And yes I preheated it first.

OOO let me know how the brown sugar priming turns out. I will be doing that to a brown ale this week and am wondering how it works out.

As for the mash tun, looks nice! I recently made a 10 gallon rectangular tun with some SS brains in the bottom. I hit about 70% efficiency on my first batch with a split batch sparge. May move to a manifold when I find some money in the couch.

Good luck on the move to AG!! :mug:

Thanks a lot. Ill prob try my brown sugar pumpkin ale next week just to see how its doing. I will check back and let you know but mine wont be fully ready for another couple weeks.

Good luck with yours and the brown sugar tastes soooo good!!!

Your MT looks just like my MT :mug:

I did forgo the hose clamps...
Did you put anything in your braid to keep it from getting crushed by the mash?
I used some tubing, slotted every inch or so, which I connected to the interior nipple. The braid was pushed over the tubing and just rolled on the end opposite the nipple. At first I was worried about the tubing sliding off the nipple while stirring but so far so good.

I hope yours works well for you!

I was going to use the clamps, if they start to look bad ill swap them for some tie wraps. And yeah I got a piece of tubing in the mesh with holes drilled in it. Works good sofar, gave it a 2hr test today with boiling water.

Thanks and ill find out this weekend. Im going to try fly sparging with it. I got a little system worked out for it :D
