Vanilla bourbon porter.... Sanitize the beans?

I Am about to put my vanilla bean bourbon porter into secondary and the recipe says to add the vanilla bean at this point. My question is do I sanitize the bean before putting it into secondary. Do I put in boiling water for a specific period of time?

Put the vanilla bean in a small container, and splash bourbon on top, coat it thoroughly. Bourbon will sanitize it nicely, and you can dump all of it in

agreed, split the bean down the length of it. Put it in a small container with a little bourbon. Let it soak for a day or 3 and pour it all in.
