I'm wondering if I can add cold water and DME in the erlenmeyer flask and use the stir plate for mixing them before I boil it in the flask?

Will I be able to mix them well, and can the wort scorch on the bottom when boiling?

Have you tried it?

I’d think it’d work given enough time.
I’ve never tried it.

I just shake the flask to get most of it, then start with low heat, shaking every couple minutes until it’s all dissolved before turning up the heat.

Only time I’ve had scorching is when some of the DME was not yet dissolved.
Still, I never use high heat; med-high max.

There's going to be a definite higher risk of infection versus boiling dme in water and letting it cool, but if you're fine with that it should work.

Yes, I mix the DME on a stir plate before boiling. Only takes a few minutes. You can boil it with the Teflon stir bar in the flask if you like, but I remove it with a catch magnet.
