Using finings in a stout ?

Just because it's dark doesn't mean it's not clear.

The major question is this: Is clarity important to you?
I add gelatin finnings to my stouts. I do see a difference and like mine clear.

JMO, but it is a simple and relatively painless step that gives me the finished product that I am looking for with a shorter secondary fermentation. If clarity is not as important to you then it certainly isn't a necessary step.
