US 56 yeast

I recently read a post that indicated tht US 56 yeast's name has been changed to 05 is that the case. Maybe thats why I couldn't find it at my local LHBS.

That is the case.

Rumor is that Wyeast wasn't happy with it sounding too much like their 1056 yeast, which is a very similar yeast (the same stain perhaps).

Yes...did you ask someone at the LHBS if they had it? They should have been easily able to direct you to the freshly labeled package.

It's still in the same pink package, and still has the same (Chico strain) yeast inside.

I've heard the same rumour, and have been telling my customers about this.
