Was so excited to finally find an affordable second hand upright freezer that I was hoping to use to control temps while fermenting and allowing me to cold crash.

I didn't realize that a lot of these models have a coolant line that runs all through the inside and along most of the shelves.

I need to remove a shelf to be able to fit a carboy in. Is it possible to splice these lines? Or should I just re-sell this freezer and continue my search for one that will work "out of the box"?

Was hoping to use it on my hopped wheat I did this weekend but thats out of the question. Can I salvage this in time to cold crash it?

When I got my upright freezer it looked similar to yours with the lines running through the shelves. All I did was remove the shelves leaving the lines intact. Then I carefully bowed them out of the way making sure to not kink them. I also had to make a shelf out of plywood and 2x4 because there wasn't enough room on the bottom to fit the fermenter. Hope this helps
