I guess it's a matter of comparison. Many, many thousands of people live in these same areas their whole lives and don't lose five houses. By that comparison, I'd say she's definitely unlucky. Still, where I live nobody loses their houses to hurricanes, so your point is taken.

I don't think it's too unlucky to lose houses to hurricanes when you live somewhere that routinely gets hit by hurricanes. I think that's just a bad decision on where to live.

If you live there, hurricanes.
If you live somewhere else, floods, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, blizzards, mudslides, straight line winds, drought, crime, crumbling infrastructure, economic downturn.

True, you can make determinations on where to live that will lessen your chances of being struck by a disaster or lessen the likely severity of one, but as a statement, "I don't think it's too unlucky to lose houses to hurricanes when you live somewhere that routinely gets hit by hurricanes. I think that's just a bad decision on where to live.", doesn't stand strong enough.

Zul'jin has lost 6 houses to bugs, so listen up.

You're being termited.

No. We really lived in a house that got infested by formosan termites.

I was sitting on the commode one night and saw this little bug squirm out the wall. Then another. Then another. Another. Another and a another. Well, I finshed up right quick and investigated. I plugged the hole they were coming out of with duct tape and within a minute, they had chewed a new hole right below it.

I closed the bathroom door and went looking for bug spray. We didn't have any, so I grabbed the bleach and a spray bottle. In that time, the bathroom was a cloud of termites. I squirted bleach in the holes they were swarming out of and that seemed to stop them.

We poked around the walls and trim with a screwdriver and found their tunnels. Oh, the tunnels. The woodwork was riddled with tunnels.Tunnels full of termites. I soaked it all in bleach, closed the door, shoved a towel under it and we went to bed.

The nexxt morning it looked like a horror show in the house. Termites everywhere. Some dead. Some live. It was nasty.

We were renting that place and the landlord had Terminex. We called him and he came right out with Terminex. They poked aroound the bathroom and found the termite HQ. They had made a nest in a wet wall of the bathroom near the shower. The nest was 5 feet tall and spanned across three studs. They had eaten so much of the wall studs and tounge and groove boards behind the sheetrock that the wood was like dirt. You could bust what was left of studs with your hand.

Terminex wound up finding them in three sides of the house and the attic. I think it was around 15 grand in damage. They honored their contract and paid for it all to be fixed, good as new.

Seriously, those bugs don't play. They will eat your house down in short order.
