I ordered the small ones and they were a hair too big. Nothing I could get in and trust my i was trying my best. Now what I did (and I love to just get the peace of mind from you experts) was take an xacto and taper it off a little more as I noticed the rubber was pretty thick.

Do I just buy new ones? It feels very snug when in it, could probably taper off more if needed to get more in there, but I have about a 1/4 inch in the jug there.

I'd use it but that's just me.

Haha good, it's in there really tightly, I don't see a single space of air getting through. This just seemed so unorthodox that I had to ask.

I have to rack this weekend. Bubbles have basically stopped and my cider is ready to rack and I don't want it sitting on sleeping yeast for too long. It'll be 2 weeks to the day in ferment

Good quick fix. Im by no means an expert but do you think that you may have to worry about possible bacteria buildup for future batches? I had the same problem with my 1 gallon jug but i managed to get it in there

It's actually why I started the thread. When I pull them out the jagged edges you see there are actually smooth. I think sanitation on them will be fine as the rubber is still very smooth and not porous looking

With 1 gallon jugs...its far easier to get 38mm screw caps with the holes. Perfectly fits the carboy and perfectly fits a airlock piece. A few online vendors sell them and they are very cheap.
