I've been looking for a long time for a portable kegging setup so I backed this project for the 128oz version. I had been eyeing the tap a draft or party pig but they seemed to have too many problems based on others reports.

This seems like it will be ideal for taking about a dozen beers on the road. I just hope I can get some sort of ball lock cap on it so I can force carb with my 20lb CO2 tank. If I can't, I can always fill it from the kegerator.

Main challenge will be fitting it in the fridge.

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more discussion here - this thing is freakin' cool! I just backed it for the 128 oz version with the carrying bag ($180), and it looks like they've exceeded their Kickstarter goal by (literally) 1000%. Anyone else contribute to this thing? Thoughts?

As an aside, how do you pronounce this? I've just been assuming it's "YOO-keg," but it now occurs to me that since they're positioning this thing as a miniature keg, and 'u' is the mathematical symbol for "micro," maybe we're supposed to be pronouncing it "Micro-keg." Anyone know for sure?

If there were a dozen of us interested in going in together the gallons would be less than $100 each ...

This project is blowing up like crazy. It was mentioned in a CNN article earlier this week (that's how I first heard about it), and since then, they've added somewhere around $75,000 to their total (which was their entire goal, originally). And there are still more than 2 weeks left. I wonder if they'll crack the magic million mark.

Get this going. I want in...

Looking at the fine-print, it may not be as cost-effective after all - $129 for 1 including US shipping against $1150 for 12 plus shipping to the lead person plus re-shipping out to all the participants.

That thing looks awesome. I was trying to explain this to my wife last night, and she just gave me a blank stare, probably trying to imply that I don't need another growler. I might spring for the copper plated one, I'm not sure.

Yeah, I was just thinking it would be cool to have, but I have a kegerator, growlers and a party pig for smaller batches.

Yep I backed this too, hoping to get the 128 OZ version for use poolside sometime this summer. Will help keep me from having to go to the kegerator wet etc.

I wonder if you can force carbonate with this?

EDIT: Can the uKeg 128 be used to force carbonate Homebrew?
The uKeg 128 currently uses a 16g CO2 cartridge. This may be sufficient, however, we’re not confident that’s always enough CO2 to both fully carbonate and dispense your beer to your liking. To ensure you can fully dispense, the cap can be easily removed to replace the cartridge after carbonating and before dispensing. We’ve had really strong interest in using the uKeg 128 to force carbonate home brew and other homemade beverages, so we’re developing a specialized cap holder that accommodates 33g cartridges.
