Here's the situation. Temp controlled chest freezer with 2 - 5gallon carboys of same batch beer.

I'd like to not have to lift the carboys out to facilitate siphoning/moving the beer to secondary. The primary reason being the wait time for any trub to resettle in the carboy and second being, well they're heavy and I'm lazy.

Should I use CO2 to push it to another carboy or is it feasible to use a pump?

I'm looking at getting a Chugger pump to use for a HERMS system and was wondering if anyone had used a pump to move from primary to secondary with the carboys sitting at the same height. I'm aware some fluid would need to be used to create a prime for the pump.

In looking at it again, it'd seem the same process could then be used to move from the secondary to keg.

What are you all doing?

Any thoughts suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim
