I've got a centennial rhizome in the ground, its been growing about two weeks now and has sent up 5 sprouts, one I cut, one was crushed by a toad and never recovered, the other three include the first sprout which is noticeably shorter then the 4" the others are. Should I trim it and focus on the two, I'd rather have three bines just because its the first year and I want the roots to propegate, at the same time I'd like a good yield, first year or not. Any advice from experienced growers?

Leave it the f**k alone, lest you kill it before it gets a chance to live.

No, in all seriousness. Leave it be. Let it grow, develop roots, and generally develop past baby-hood.

It may actually produce some hops, unless you dick it around until it decides suicide is a better option.

No returns in mucking with a first year plant!
