When is a good time to mulch hops for the up coming winter months and new spring growth? I cut them down on Wednesday and we have been getting alot of cold nights here in Michiana. What is the best process that will yield the best success for best years harvest?

I have no idea, but wanted to say hi from a fellow Michianian lol.....I'm from goshen but live in Elkhart!

Wha! I lived in Elkhart my whole life, now I live in edwardsburg! I still work in Elkhart tho. Small world.

Use your mower to shred up some leaves (leaves are GOLD) then bag or rake them and put a 6" layer over the top of the crowns. By spring they will have been compressed down and the new bines will emerge through it. I would then add aged compost around the emerging bines.
