Hey everyone,

First-time brewer here.

In nearly every place I've looked, the common fermentation time before bottling seems to be right around two weeks. However, in the instructions of a custom recipe I have purchased (for an IPA), it says to only ferment 7-10 days. Is this unusual to anyone? Should I follow these instructions or just wait two weeks instead?

Any help would be great. Thanks, guys!

You will find through reading here on HBT, that a large number of brewers keep their beer in the primary for at minimum 3 weeks.

I also follow this process. While the fermentation process may be complete in 7-10 days, the yeast will consume by products produced as part of the fermentation process and result in a cleaner tasting beer after 3 or more weeks.
