I only have 2 ready-made blow-off assys, but I brewed 20g Sunday, so I rolled the dice... snake-eyes! (what's up with mr. quiet in the corner there?)

that was stressful to look at.

I've been on a lager stint lately. 2" of kraussen is easily managed.

Please give some details.... OG... and exactly HOW MUCH did you over pitch?

Those are 1.065 IPAs. Way over-pitched from mason jars of S-05. I like to pitch as much yeast as possible. 63F probably answers the next question.

It looks like a big mess, but it's in a chest freezer in my garage. Right next to the wetvac :)

The only time I've ever had something even remotely close to this was during the period of time that I thought it would be a good idea to pitch right on top of the yeast cake from a previous fermentation. WAY too much yeast in that fermenter. WOW!!!! I learned a very good lesson. Didn't explode... luckily I caught it before the big bang and put a blow-off tube on it. But it sure would have made a mess if I hadn't been monitoring it.

But... it really does look like a good mess. Brewing beer is fun.

It's nothing really. I've had much bigger messes. Much.

Potential quote for my signature.

Just one example (and I've got more) is when I broke a glass carboy full of wort in my pool. You've reached a low point when it's January and you sneak out of the house after your wife is asleep, and you're wading around the shallow end of your pool in tennis shoes looking for glass on the bottom with a flashlight.

There is a picture, hopefully it is not a plastic liner...
Wait, your pool is not cover by 6 inches of ice and snow in January ???? My giant ice cube won't be fluid for at least 4-6 weeks.

Ha! Sorry to laugh at your expense, but that is funny. Were you able to somehow keep this secret away from your wife?

I did take a hasty video of the dark wort as it creeped along the bottom of my pool, from shallow to deep, but it was getting dark and you couldn't make out anything in it.

Concrete. Pretty warm down here, only ice is in the freezer. You have ice still in March?
