This normal Krausen?

Just need some reassurance that this looks normal. I have a lot of krausen or what I think is krausen stuck on the top of my fermenter. I can't see inside its so thick. I'm just hoping its normal. Is that a 5 gallon carboy? Looks like you used your secondary carboy as a primary and your primary bucket for blow-off.

You are probably right. I bought a kit which came with the primary bucket and bottling bucket but I read plastic breaks down over time and carboys are better. Not knowing I thought a 5 gallon Carboy would work so i bought that but I was wrong so the need for a blow off tube was needed so I used the bucket. So yea it's a little reversed lol.

Probably going to need a bigger Carboy. I don't plan on going to a secondary for this batch.
 
looks fine but yes, you used the secondary 5 gallon carboy as the primary instead of the 6.5 gallon bucket. 5 gallons is not large enough to handle a 5 gallon batch as you are finding out:)

Also do a search on using secondary, you'll find most people don't usually use them unless they are adding fruit or oak or bulk conditioning a large beer

Lessons learned. Yea primary then I'll rack to bottles once my FG is down to 1.015 or so.

Some plastics will break down over time, but a plastic fermentation bucket may have to sit out in the sunlight for months to degrade. You will need to replace the bucket in a few years because of scratches, unless you are careful with cleaning, before it will ever degrade from use as a fermentor.
 
Thanks all.

Doing some research I think I might have under pitched my yeast. I used wyeast 1056 one package. It was fresh basically a few weeks from packaging. I didn't create a starter. I broke the inner nutrients and the bag expanded so much I thought it was going to explode on its own ImageUploadedByHome Brew1415402043.673016.jpg .. But that's all I pitched at room temperature. The SG was 1.062.

I had vigorous fermentation and everything looks good as you can see above. It's day 6 right now and it's still going. Should I just let it be?
 
I will usually take an SG reading about day 12 to 14. Day 19 to 21 I'll take another reading. Usually the second one will be FG. I'll bottle when it fits into my schedule. I'm never in a rush to get the beer off the yeast cake.
