That is a very posable issue. Hard to say from Iowa what need's to be done in Az. (LOL).

if only google earth was better, i could do this outside! lol

i know! i'll pull the switch, and see if there is continuity, between black and blue, when the switch is pushed or, when it's not....

or try it while it's in if ai can do it....

well man, bad news.....i went to push on the switchy thing....and it broke off like it was already broken.....i think that was the click i heard when i had to turn it backwards.....but all is not lost...it did have another side to it....are they replaceable?

i think now it's....is there like a momentary toggle switch i could bypass the centerfugal one...i'm going to have to wire in a on/off switch anyway?

As far the switch goes, do mean can the switch be replacede? Yes but finding one would probably not be practical cost or availability wise. The other terminals on that switch work the oppisit as the start switch. open sitting still, it closes when motor is spinning.

so a main toggle switch, and a push button the get it turning?

out of curiousity, i'm going to try that now, there's enough unused wires allready close to everything coming from that top control box....

Simply, yes. Working on a plan now.

i wimped out on the "try it now free" idea....got confused try to figure out, so this goes to blue, this black....

i like the idea of maybe getting a project box for a permenant switch and a push button, because this thing is going to live on my back deck, and i'd really like the side back on it.....

Yeah, NP, give me a little time. making a wire diag now. you will have to make it work on your end.

man, you don't need to put that much effort into it.....i'm think just buy a toggle switch, and a momentary push button switch drill a couple holes in the top of the side....mount them, and just flick the switch push the button and watch the rootlets get sucked away! ;)

You're brilliant!!!! the toggle switch i have laying around is a three position one!!!!! so, one click, two click...rollin' baby! :mug:

You already have the momentary switch on the dryer.

yeah but i'd have to buy a new knob for it....the one that was on it was broken...cheaper to get a push button....

i'm think the three way toggle switch, have down off....middle all three powered, then top just hot & neutral...drill a holle in the side and mount it.....

The suspense is killing me

for the record, projects like these were why i didn't get into malting sooner....So for the record, this is just something i'm doing to get out of having to lift 20lbs over my head and slowly pour into another bucket in front of a box fan, 30 times......it's not actually this hard! and if you bought a dryer that worked, even easier!

hey @kartracer2 ,would this do it? it says it's three way but looking at it...i don't get it....so it looks like it has a neutral, and two hots? so it's off or one or the other hot? so i could wire black & blue to the middle postion, just blue to top? what do you think....i looked up my records and i only bought one 3 way toggle switch back in 2018....so i'll have to get a new one.... :mug:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/333933128114?hash=item4dbff729b2:g:LEEAAOSwoSNgW95k

i could install it, and even get a spiffy cover and all that cool stuff.....

for the record i don't plan on keeping this unit plugged in when not in use....

wait, my shorts are in front of me on the floor? do you want me to pick them up? 🤣

OK, I tossed this together quickly. make sense to you?

would the three way switch idea work? i know there would be a brief moment of no power, but the drum would still be spinning enough to switch over wouldn't it?

i use a three way switch for my oven, to switch between my low temp and normal temp....looking at it, it has three prongs, well 6 their pairs. wouldn't i just be able to hook up, blue and black on the the middle prong together? then just blue to the other one, and leave the other two dead?

i'm thinking it'd be kinda a graceful "flick of the switch' just with an extra click in the middle to give it a push?

But isn't there a power switch ahead of that on your oven? Switching between two lines is one thing. You want/need an ON/OFF someplace.

that would be the unhooked up down position? it's an on/on/on switch so if down if not hooked up it's off, and middle is got both black & blue to it, then up is just blue?

are you saying the flick back to off and a brief burst to the start winding for second shutting it off is THAT bad? i plan on pluging this franken thing into a power breaker, could just kill the power there?

Yes that may work but I wouldn't want to be able to leave the start windings hot with a on/off switch. That's why I suggest the momentary start switch. Less chance of a problem.
It's you machine, you can do as you see fit and suits you. I am just sharing how I would/wouldn't do it. Hell you could put pedals on the damn thing if you want!!.(LOL)
