BLACK GOLD UPDATE

That get your attention? OK, here we go, the long awaited information on the upcoming release of 22oz bottles of Black Gold, a big, bold stout aged a full three years in bourbon barrels.

On October 10, 2015, right after the River Run (see our website for info on that), as the Great Amherst Beer Fest starts, we will begin selling bottles of Black Gold. Historically, there have not been huge crowds for that beer. Based on inquiries, we believe it will this year. So, we are adopting the same strategy as our anniversary beer sales, which went very smooth this year, and are using Brown paper Tickets for the Black Gold sales.

Here is how that works, go to the below link for Brown Paper Tickets, and purchase your ticket for $5. We donate that money to the Amherst Jensen Center. That ticket allows you to purchase up to 5 22oz bottles of Black Gold for $20 each. No need to arrive early or wait too long in line. Sales will begin at Noon on October 10 and go until 4pm. If, after 4pm, there are still bottles available, we will create a new allocation and sell them first come first served. NO PROXY BUYING.

TICKET SALES BEGIN MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 AT NOON

More information about the run and the fest will be coming as we get closer to the date.

ready, set...go!

Highly tempting for this FIB to make the trip up there for this one.

I think the real question here is to hot tub room or to not hot tub room.

Before I call Woodman's in Kenosha, does anyone know specific prices of all NG beers? Specifically, pumpkin pie lust, thumbprints, and fruited beers?

Varies by store a little bit, but I'd guess on average:

$9 / 6pk (Year-Round / Seasonal)
$11 / 4pk (Thumbprint and other 4pks)
$10 / 750ml (Fruit Beers)

Woodman's will probably be cheaper than average though.

One more quick question about Door County, where is the best place to grab bottles? Not looking for any crazy store just a goods bottle shop with a decent selection, that is in or close to sturgeon bay

It's been a while since I've stopped in, but I believe it was Superior Discount Liquor in Manitowoc that had a pretty good selection. Found some of the GI Sisters there around 2012/13 still at the old cheap prices when everywhere around Chicago raised the prices. There's a few small shops up the peninsula you could stop at but they won't have crazy big selections.
Or you could just stop in at the usual Kenosha/Racine spots on the way up or down. A detour to Discount Liquor in Milwaukee wouldn't be that out of the way either and is well worth it if you've never been.

Louie D'or Olive Oil and Wine. Right in Sturgeon Bay is where I think I stopped 2 years ago.

From New Glarus Facebook Page

GABF Brett Bronze Medal was brought home this past weekend by the 2015 Golden Ale. This same award winning 2015 Golden Ale will be released to the public October 8, 9, and 10. As always there will be a two bottle per person day limit. A limited number of bottles will be available each day and sales will begin at the New Glarus Brewing Co. Hilltop Brewery no later than 9:00 a.m. and ending when the beer is gone.

The first R&D Golden Ale was released in 2009. This year’s 2015 Golden Ale was again brewed by Diploma Master Brewer Daniel Carey. Golden Ale is a Belgian Trappist Style Ale brewed with Czech & Munich malts. German Saphir and French Strisselspalt hops were used for the kettle boil. The 2015 Golden Ale was than dry hopped and is naturally bottle conditioned with Ale and Brett yeast.

Hey, we're throwing a beer festival in Milwaukee later this month (Oct 23-24) at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Current beer list is up on the site with some hard-to-find beers from great in-state and out-of-state brewers, and we're bringing in friends like Stan Hieronymus, Randy Mosher, John Palmer, and Brad Smith for homebrewing seminars as well.

Haven't seen any talk about it, just wanted to put it on the WI radar...

Anyone else at CW today? Got there around 2:30 and was annoyed that all the good stouts kicked. Then that tomato started pouring Black Gold and didn't stop.

I hit NG on my way to CW, which was super fast & smooth. CW was pretty crazy around 1 but after I went through the bottle line it got much better. Fun event. 17 was mighty tasty. Rye Black Gold was excellent. Maple bourbon stout wasn't IMO. Weaze the juice was a nice wild ale. The show stealer for me was Door County Pete. Reminded all of us of a TG pale ale. It was that good. Galaxy & Mosaic. Couldn't stay long but it was fun.
