It's weird, mike karnowski book says 2 feet on hb corny kegs. Lhbs guys say 5 feet. Great book btw

I did a pull this morning to see how it looked now that the beer is cold. Still a bit foamy, but way less that it had been. I went ahead and dropped it down to 4 PSI. I'm looking forward to a cold HB tonight! Thanks guys! :mug:

Line length also depends upon ID of tubing. Although most Kegerators/Taps are sold with 5ft tubes. 10 Ft. is a good place to start and cut down from there. In one kegerator I have 10ft and Force carb at 10-14psi depending on style (takes about a week) and then server at that pressure, no issues. The other kegerator I left at 5ft which seems great for stouts, but when I carb to 12-14, I get more foam and a really quick pour, not unacceptable but not great.

I like the simple set and forget.

here is a calculator someone made http://www.mikesoltys.com/2012/09/17/determining-proper-hose-length-for-your-kegerator/

10-12 psi set it and forget it has worked well for me, about 5ft of 3/16 line

Backed the keg off to 4 PSI this morning. Perfect pour just now.

Looks delicious. Heading in to work the night shift for the weekend. Have a wonderful New Year's Eve. Have a homebrew for me this weekend. I'll have one in the mornings when I get home. Should be pretty boring at work, though.

Do you use bottled water or refill from the sink. Our homebrew club has a water test kit, I need to rest my water

I don't use bottled water or refill from the sink....sort of. What I do is use a Zero Water filter to refill all of my gallon jugs. Then I add calcium, gypsum, etc.

The Zero Water filter has a TDS tester. 230-ish before the filter. 0 after the filter. Add what you need to get your beer.

BTW- Zero Filter poured a bottle of wine into the filter and it came out tasting like water. Shows how good it is to clear out your water.

Never thought of running my water through a .45 micron filter to remove dissolved solids. I'm now curious if it would make a noticeable difference in the finished product.

I have not had my water tested before filtration and after filtration. I do need to do that. What I can say is that my beer tastes good. Can it be better if I get the water tested? Yes. But it is good and it probably can be better once tested.
