Update came out about the "per day" statement. Basically, the email is a form email and "per day" will only apply to bottles that don't sell out. Guess we'll be seeing nice big bottle counts in the future.

That's what I figured too. It appears as though is going to be the format going forward. It'll be interesting to see how they manage to enforce the restriction. Good way to drive regular traffic through the new joint, though.

I have no dog in this fight. I'm not a believer's member and I don't go to Tired Hands releases anymore. However, looking at the situation, I feel like if I was a believer's member, I'd be pretty pissed about this. I basically paid just for the privilege of not having to wait in line? How much were memberships?

The Believers' Club was advertised as a way to guarantee allocations of regular releases without having to wait in line. With that said, it's disappointing that the limits are not higher for Believers' Club members. After having waited this long for bottles, it would be nice if we got to reserve more than one.

Whatever money was spent on the membership was transferred directly to a Tired Hands gift card that entitles the cardholder to a 10% or greater discount on all purchases, depending on the membership level. Each membership was essentially a small loan. I agree it's a bad deal for those who aren't local, but for those who visit Tired Hands with any regularity, it's not a bad deal. I visit once or twice a month and have already spent a good deal of my gift card.

edit2: Also, you effectively get a 10% return on the $500, 20% on $1k, 30% on the 2k as long as you were going to spend that at Tired Hands in the next 3 or whatever years. If you spend it faster, it's even better. Plus you can use on the bottles so you get a discount on them too.

Yeah...there are some nice benefits. Having your bottles held, and certainly the discount. I'm not a math wizard, but if you save 30% on the $2000, it's like them giving you a free $600, isn't it? 10 20 and 30% off, and it's the best deal in reserve societies. Money back with interest to be used basically however you want at their facility plus normal allocations of bottles without having to wait in line.

If you think about like that, sure. You get the % off meals and such too. It's honestly a great deal if you go enough. Oh and bottles are held for 2 weeks which is nice. Plus, not waiting in line is really nice.

Yeah, I mean, I love Sara's Cellar, but I would love it more if it were just the ability to reserve an allocation of whichever random beers they release. The exclusives are great! But some real gems aren't in the club.

Was thinking the same thing when I saw FB post today. Who in the holy **** is willing to stand in line for hours to pay $18 for a 500ml bottle?

That said, really glad I've got an overnight layover in Philly coming up in a few weeks and will get to go back to TH and hopefully make a trip to F&M too.

I'm just saying, poorly, that with the multiple mechanisms available for releasing low bottle count beers, going with an option that forces large inefficiencies (e.g. wasted time standing in line) doesn't seem like the best use of what is a precious resource. Hence the almost insult. To humanity, I guess. Just think if all those wasted person-hours were spent doing meaningful things! Said in jest as I waste an hour bellied up to a bar.

They aren't forcing the inefficiencies. The people that show up earlier and earlier every release are the only ones increasing the inefficiencies. Most people in this thread agree that 400 people will not show up for this release. Assuming that's the case, everyone should just show up at noon, form a line, and buy their one bottle. Hey...I just want to get my **** and go the **** home. I can either spend my time in line in the morning...or do it after noon as 400 people filter through the line. Besides...hanging out with people in the morning's what makes the whole thing fun. If I had Believer's Club...I'd forgo reserved bottles just to get in line or them. I enjoy that stuff. But as you said...most of the time you don't need to show up early. The line usually never represents a number that exceeds what's available. It's just a matter of whether or not you care to be at the end of a long ass line. It's personally not my preference.
