If any bourbon lovers in the DFW area would let me know where the best bottle shops are it would be greatly appreciated. Mainly looking north towards Flower Mound and Lewisville but wherever. Many thanks.

Flying into Dallas for the Jets Cowboys game this Saturday. Was wondering if any of you guys had suggestions of places around Dallas, and means of transportation to Jester King from there. Thanks.

It's over 3 hours from Dallas to JK.

If you don't mind getting raped a little... South Lamar wine and spirits has been letting out a few nice bottles. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're charging roughly 150% of the normal price for the rare stuff.

They're such a pain in the ass. Dropping "rare" (like ETL, Willett bourbon, or Balcones) bottles on the shelf one day at a time usually between 3-6pm while also putting one nice BTAC or PvW bottle out as well and plastering it all over FB and Twitter. I tried really hard with them last year and the closest I got was being 20 minutes too late. I'm convinced you have to just sit in their parking lot all afternoon or have the best luck in the world. I feel their shenanigans have just help to drive up the "rarity" and cost of all this bourbon ****, so I've stopped shopping there.

I thought I remembered you saying something about them having crazy prices. I've been wanting to try the balcones rum for a while and they still had it but I'm not paying $100 for a bottle of rum. I would do the $60-70 that I think it usually runs. Went to Costco north instead and got a 750ml of Hudson baby bourbon for $50.

Yea, the Balcones line up is ok, but you can find amazing substitutes for at least -$30. Zafra and Papa's Pilar put their rum under the table for <$50.

Are you staying in Dallas or Arlington (where the stadium is).

Dallas is.. *******... HUGE.

There should be some JK on shelves (check Central Market & Specs). Prolly Petit Prince, El Cedro, Wytchmaker, and Noble King... maybe some Dichotomous, Biere de Miel, or Snörkel too. Maybe. Grab El Cedro for sure if you see it... it's a Citra farmhouse ale and is farking delicious. A bunch just went out.

My favorite bars are Strangeways & Meddlesome Moth. LUCK (Local Urban Craft Kitchen) is a great restaurant near downtown if you specifically want to dry local DFW beer. MM is most likely to have JK on tap (and other Austin-area beers like Live Oak)

Yeah, Jester King is about 225-ish miles from there, heh. If suggest posting an IP trade if you're looking for brewery only stuff. There are a lot of Dallas homies that drive down for big releases.

I appreciate the input, and respect the South Park avatar. Thank you.

Going to attempt to smuggle cans of King Julius and c23 with me.

Hopefully I can find this Citra dry hopped beer you speak of.

F that noise, $100 a bottle for rum. I'm more than happy with a $40 bottle of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva.

My usual go to for rum is Ron matusalem grand riserva which usually runs $30-35 and I really enjoy that it's not overly sweet like a lot of rums. I would've been okay with paying a little more($60-70) to try the balcones rum because I really enjoy true blue(better than baby blue) and single malt from them.

What is this, talkrum.com?

I like the Zaya 12 yr for $30 or the Ron Zacapa 23 for $45.

What's up guys, I'm moving to the great state of Texas next month from NJ. Wanted to see if any of you are near the College Station/Bryan area, maybe meet up for beer or a tasting? I'll be bringing a fair amount of HF amongst others. PM if you want.

The best thing about College Station as far as craft beer goes is that you're half way between Austin and Houston.

The worst thing about College Station is that to get anything limited or unique, you'll have to drive to Austin or Houston.
