The good guys over at Lone Star Beverages in Carrollton are announcing something BIG tomorrow. Can't wait to show y'all some of the stuff I've been working on ;)

The cat's out of the bag! Today Lone Star Beverages announced their new store which I had the great pleasure of building an identity for. I ended up rebranding Lone Star as a whole and will continue collaborating heavily the owners, definitely my favorite client by a long shot and I'm extremely grateful to work with them.

Good dewds. I hope they eventually open a store in Houston because I'm tired of Spec's ****, but they're the only real game in town besides DQ Beer Station so we all have to endure.

Hey guys. Chris from CT. I have never been to Texas in my life, but by the end of October my girlfriend and I are moving to Austin, we just decided. We are looking to move into the downtown area, and I dont know much else besides that so far. I have been in CT basically my whole life and need a change. I didnt know where else to post this, but just trying to see if anyone has suggestions on places to live, stuff to check out, and also just want to reach out to some people so I can have some people to maybe meet up when we do move, as well have no friends in Austin. If anyone wants to PM me that would be great. Hope to meet some of you guys soon.

Don't come here, this city is terrible.... But seriously, housing "downtown" doesn't really exist or is very very expensive. Housing and apartment prices have only gone up, never once down, resulting in a very inflated real estate market. We have terrible public transportation and some of the worst cab companies ever. Try looking east of I-35 or south of the river if you want to be downtownish, but beware there are some sketchy neighborhoods still.

I personally wouldn't live anywhere that close to downtown either. Slaughter maybe? I'm going back to Austin soon and I find living in the north to be more peaceful. You will love Austin though...although I've never been to CT to compare. I do agree on stocking up on beer though.

Welcome man. I moved to Austin about 6 months ago from SF. Live downtown on Rainey street, and knew no one when I moved. Had a few bottle shares at my place and met some pretty awesome people via this site (and the other evil one). I like living downtown as I live right on a 10 mile hike and bike trail, I work off of south congress and my gf works downtown at Capital Factory, and its super close to a ton of great stuff. Plus two of my favorite bars (Craft Pride and Bangers) are a 2 minute walk. That being said, its not cheap down there, and I can see why people are turned off about that. The gf and I are looking at houses down south and on the east side since we want some more space than just a 2 br condo. Feel free to PM me with questions, and I would love to grab a drink when you get in town.

South Austin is where it's at! I lived in North & Central Austin before moving down here and my girlfriend and I love it way more. You can find quite a handful of affordable living options down here and it's only a 10-15 min drive to downtown.

Feel free to shoot me a PM!

Hi Chris! I live in central Austin. Not DT, but not far from it. Moving into DT requires careful consideration of cost, income, etc. Price drops 1mi from DT but can vary widely. I live 2mi from DT and the cost for a nice 1980's built 1 BR and 2 BR Apt is reasonable. Do you want an Apt, condo, or house?

There are a good amount of beer events and other things to do too (e.g. the outdoors, music, museums). There's a monthly bottle share and plenty of other ones throughout the month.

You'll also need to do annoying vehicle license and registration stuff. But there's no state income tax!
Pm me if you want to talk, or make a group convo and add me :)

Can I move into your condo and pay the same rent :p

Austin's growing and growing. I agree that South Austin is the way to go. Wherever you live, you will deal with the traffic. It's inevitable in Austin.

I live 2 miles south of downtown in 78704 in a good neighborhood (S First area) and it's literally 3x cheaper than comparable space downtown.

I'm not your best source for advice re: living downtown, as I live north of Austin in Round Rock (because I care about things like schools and crime and tax rates) but I'm a fellow New Englander (Boston) who has transplanted down here and I'd be happy to help in any way I can, or just hang out and drink beer. :)
