Pumpkinator is dropping in Austin today....

... all y'all can go to hell if it gets cleared out before I get outta work.

I have a couple good friends in Houston hunting for BA Pumpkinator. Any tips? If they get some, they'll probably send me some. That would be neat as heck.

The usual spots should have it. D&Q, specs smith, etc. D&Q tweeted about it yesterday at 1pm. Though I would imagine it goes quickly.

Lots of Austin accounts are saying "On Premises Only" for BA Pumpkinator....

... gonna try to lightly hunt for some later. Might just trade for some cause lazy.

Anybody seen Coop Brewing in Austin?

I got to talking with the brewmaster at GABF and supposedly distro started here last month? I haven't seen it, but then again I haven't been looking hard.

We're getting some DNR up here. I think maybe one or two other beers are on tap but it's pretty small distribution. I'd suspect whatever is getting to Austin is a small amount and only filling the smaller accounts.

Was the rum BA version just the bishop's barrel release (7 or 9?) or did they do a separate release like the most recent BA pumpkinator release?
So BB 6 was Pumpkinator in Rum Barrels.... BB 9 was in Bourbon Barrels.

My HEB beer lady straight up told me it's available from the distro but she's concentrating on "locals and national brands". Oklahoma fits neither. Prairie also sits foreeeeever at her store, so I can understand. I believe Spec's has it on shelves now.

I'll be surprised if it's super hard to get.... I didn't have any difficulty getting the rum BA version.

I was told there was a longer line than black Friday for BA pumpkinator this week at specs smith street (the big one).

******' jabronis come out of the woodwork for pumpkinator in Houston.

So dumb.

I wasn't there, so there may be exaggeration, but... typical.

I was at Smith St around 10 as I had to pick up the BA version for a guy who I send Pumpkinator to every year. The line was definitely smaller than the Black Friday line I experienced in 2015 or 2016 (can't remember which year I went).

... I can't believe PHP is already 5 years old... I remember driving past that building while it was under construction for what seemed like forever on my way to the Draught House....

I remember going pretty quickly after it opened. Barrels everywhere, nobody inside. I just hit the south location for the first time today while driving home from San Antonio. Why did they pick two locations that are complete pains to reach?

Had electric jellyfish for the first time. A touch too bitter and dry to hit the Trillium/Treehouse quality but not far away. Probably the third best brewery's attempt from the limited number I have tried. Easily the best I've tried in Texas. It's not my favorite style of beer and I'm more fond of the NE-meets-west-coast like Freetail's excellent ghost pixel beers but PHP is doing the hazy style very well.

Also, how the hell is Freetail Texas Harvest just sitting on the shelves?

Fwiw I dont think they are going for the NE thing with EJ. Closer in style to a west coast to me and just a good ipa.

They describe it on their website as, "The Jellyfish is a hazy new school IPA focusing on the juicy hop flavor and aroma while keeping the bitterness balanced and refreshing."

na...it's an neiper. it wouldn't be brohaze if going for the west coast imo. I haven't had it in a couple of months...but it's never been too bitter by any means.

I read a pretty good article that Joe Mohrfield (PHP Head Brewer/Owner) wrote about his use of cryo hops....

He specifically still adds pelletized hops and dry hop the beer because they're not going for a complete NEIPA in their hazy IPAs. He actually likes to have a little bitterness in there.

*shrug*

EJ is my favorite local beer when I can get it, so I'm not complaining.

PHP Lamar is close to my house, so I'm (selfishly) a-ok with that location.

Yeah I get the overall location for both but getting in to the property is such a pain in the ass. I missed the turn in off 290 and got stuck on 360 in rush hour for a mile and had to turn around, only to almost miss it a second time.

That whole 71/290/360/Lamar interchange is some advanced level ****, lol. Flyovers, overpasses, and underpasses for days.

I lived like 1 mile from there for 6 years and I still occasionally made a wrong turn. Ha.

I like the Burnet location and go there often. Their tap lineup for their 5th anniversary this past weekend was crazy. Godzilla's Jackhammer was *mwaa*

Round Rock location is being built now. Their house beer will be Training Bines (like EJ is the "house beer" at the South location).
