Katy here - Buffalo Bayou is flooding neighborhoods in Cinco Ranch as they release water from George Bush Park. Power keeps cutting in and out. Plenty of beer and water, but I'm craving a Petrol lamb burger and a Hughie's banh mi. Stay safe out there.

I hope all Houstonites are doing ok. This is bad and getting worse.

The wife and I are good. We still have power and our neighborhood doesn't flood too bad. Haven't been able to sleep that much, I'm in alert mode. A tornado touched down a few blocks away from my grams crib. Thank God it didn't do any life threatening damage.

DKML is prefect beer to drink while riding out this storm.

Oh dude. I'm at 10 and 99. Hahaha.

I know several TB members in my tasting group that potentially lost vehicles and property. I may be running a LIF upon my return from Belgium to help out

Do you know Cynic-ale? He's over in that neck of the woods east of the 10/99 junction in Katy

Where we were at in Missouri City looks like it should be fine now that the Brazos level estimates have gone down, but we headed to in-laws in San Antonio just to take the edge off for a day or two. Planning on checking out Weathered Souls tomorrow as a stress reliever

Yes sir I know him.

Checking in from Cinco Ranch in Katy. Some Neighborhoods out here have as much as 6' of water. Water continued to rise very slowly yesterday and then leveled off. Buffalo Bayou flows right through Cinco so that is what flooded all the neighborhoods. National Guard helicopters were airlifting people off roofs and boats from Arizona, Louisiana, San Antonio, and Austin kept bringing people out as well. People were getting out of boats and dump trucks with their lives in backpacks and grown men in tears. Volunteered all day yesterday sending addresses to boats to get people out. A bit overwhelming at times. Water stopped a couple hundred yards from my apts on Mason so I'm ok. People are still in these flooded neighborhoods and rescues continue to take place. Stay safe out there - looters are out, esp in the Memorial area. Boats were asked to come armed.

Sun's out and it's a new day.

Prayers to all of those affected in Houston. Us FIB's are thinking of you all down South.

On another note, I will be in Austin this weekend for my bachelor party and staying out by Lake Austin, about 10 minutes from downtown. What's the best place to buy beer besides Craft Pride? Any liquor stores with good selection out that way?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not exactly sure what's out that way beer/liquor store wise.

In general, good places to pick up some beer would be Whichcraft (2 locations - Lamar & Mueller), East 1st Grocery, Central Market, Sunrise Mini Mart (Anderson Lane), some H-E-B's, Whole Foods. Just thinking off the top of my head, I'm sure I've missed some that other can fill you in on.

Total Wine & More and Specs are places that have a good beer and liquor selection. (Personally I like Total Wine better, but if you are closer to a Spec's it will do good enough for a bachelor party weekend.) Twin Liquors could be an option for you liquor wise.

Just curious if Austin is having a self fulfilling prophecy gasoline panic like Dallas currently is...
Yep. I legit needed gas on my way home and the place was mobbed. All out of everything but regular...

... oh and prices magically went up $0.30 since yesterday.

My wife used to work in the oil equipment biz (mud pumps and other supplies for actual people drilling) and she's hearing from her old peeps stuff will be coming back on Sunday at latest in Corpus at least. As far as pipelines go, they've got other means.

Everyone calm the **** down. Believe it or not these companies want to make a bajillion dollars and will be open as soon as humanly possible.

Of the 30 or so gas stations I drove by on my way home, probably 5 had fuel, and all of those had hour plus waits and 1/4 mile queues.

I'll wait in line for 4 hours to buy a single bottle of beer, but not gas.

Picked up a couple 4 packs of grace and grit and my guns are all dialed in, so I'm not too concerned if societal collapse begins.

Last night I went to the gym around 9pm. All the gas stations were empty and had blocked off pumps.

This morning almost all of them have gas. What a bunch of idiots.

I don't even understand where this came from? Literally all I heard is people were buying gas because people were panicking and buying gas. So dumb.

Yeah, this gas **** in Dallas was dumb. Coworkers warned me at 8am, I went and sat behind 2 cars to get gas because I'm driving to Austin tomorrow. I'm also dumb as **** because I had to get premium.

Today my girlfriend got regular gas without any issues.

August 2017 Thursday Gas Crisis.

2 gas stations by my house were out of gas last night @ $2.39. Now one is $2.15 and the other is $2.55. Both have gas.

I think they're making this **** up as they go along...

Going to be in Austin for a wedding next weekend (staying at some fancy ass spa put in the Hill Country) without much free time. Obviously going to try and hit up Jester King, but what's my best bet for stocking up on Live Oak cans & Yellow Rose?

You can find live oak pretty much everywhere. You can buy overpriced yellow rose from Jester king for convenience. Total wine on sunset valley may be your best bet otherwise.

Edit: assuming you won't have a car/won't have a lot of time to drive around for beer.

HEB in West Lake Hills had $6.97 sixers of Live Oak this weekend and a couple cases of Yellow Rose 16oz bottle 4-packs.

Yellow Rose 16oz bottle 4-packs.

I always lol thinking about this beer. It used to be the OMGZ HAZY IPA IN TEXUZ U CANT MISS IT before breweries in Texas started unloading oats and concrete into their IPAs. Now that some breweries in the state are making actual hazy IPAs nobody says that anymore.
