In regards to the lack of water stations, that was a venue issue, not a Modern Times decision. Derek (MT's event head honcho for those who may not know him) told a group of us that the venue nixed water stations due to incredibly strict rules about runoff entering the bay. Obviously, I don't know exactly when Modern Times found out about that, but Derek wasn't stoked about it and it seemed like it wasn't something they knew about with enough advance warning to address. It definitely was a bummer, especially with most of the beers being high octane, but it also wasn't a situation where they ignored the need.
Damn, that sucks! Guessing this is the first and last time MT will have an event at that venue. IDK what was wrong with the Liberty Station venue, thought it was a fantastic place to have a beer fest.

Couldn’t someone have just grabbed a few dozen cases of bottled water at Costco?

Finished the Carnival, went to EAH to grab my PtY tickets and a pint of chasing galaxy and some fries...then decided it would be a great idea to close down Alesmith.

The hungover drive today up to Horus today to grab my oceanside 11 bottle (yes just one) was not at all fun. Hehehe

Crosspost from the mixed drink thread.

Made my first mai tai, including homemade pineapple simple syrup and orgeat.

I overheard someone say that Liberty Station has essentially doubled their event pricing, which didn’t make it feasible to have to event there this year... I (or they) may have been super drunk at the time though, so who knows.

Ah, that's super lame! That was a really cool venue and I am sure the businesses in Liberty Station benefited from it.

SOB. Now i need to go buy or make some new bitters.

Never had Pikesville rye either.

Pikesville is awesome; runs about $50 but is 110pf so I feel it's worth the asking price and is an excellent sipper, but you could probably also sub in Rittenhouse Rye if Pikesville is hard to come by. That cocktail I devised is basically a chocolate covered almond old fashioned. So good! And I need to find more ways to use orgeat....

No game night this week. Too much on my plate. I am not in town any weekend in March so that is out. How does April 14th or 21st work for people?

I be down in SD on Thursday. Anywhere that might be particularly worthwhile stopping by at? I haven't actually been to SD in years so I am super out of the loop.

Draft list at Modern Times is always quite solid, plus still probably have that Lightning Calculator ipa and Beast Master cans to go.

Alesmith A&S is a bit lacking, I think it was down to 8 of 12 taps when I was there yesterday. Still delicious though. Rye BAVSS is like a slight spicy chocolate.

I was about to ask, do they still have Rye BAVSS on? Because if so who cares what else is on haha.

They do, they also have it in their "special blend of the week" that they are calling triple barrel. 1/2 DBSS + 1/2 RBAVSS. I forgot to go back in and get it, but I expect it to be delicious after it warms a bit. The port is still the star of the show on DBSS off draft.

Damn that sounds delicious.

Are you just gonna be there one day? Because there's this tiny thing happening this weekend...

Might go. Bought bottles earlier, though got a whole month for pickup. Was supposed to be a 2 bottle limit I think, but they were selling 10 bottle limits of the ‘17 + ‘18 bundle by accident. Would be more of a **** show if people still cared about this beer besides me.

I’m gonna be in La Jolla Thurs-Sun, but have a wedding on Saturday. Does this event draw a pretty big crowd at opening? I have time to kill before the ceremony (I’m not in the wedding, but my wife is). It’s tempting to get there at open and grab a few from that good looking draft list.

Opening will probably be a bit of line (PTY may drag in some people) but after a couple hours it is usually relatively quiet.
