As someone that doesn't drink coffee, unless it is in beer, I would say that it makes speedway a tad more fruity. I would drink it if offered to me, but I did not purchase any additional.
Okay, that's what I assumed. Aside from Black House, a considerable amount of their blends have quite bright, with heavy fruit-berry notes.

2 X 330ml bottles $27.10 is what is listed online under the member portal. So I assume the same price when purchased in-person.

You have to buy a 2pk because they are still under that law from the ABC that Modern Times was under when they couldn't sell single 12oz cans.

I didn't I know that was a law. How did I miss that.

It's not a law, it's a condition that's sometimes (unsure how often) imposed upon breweries' liquor licenses.

Hmmm lame that something like that got imposed upon them. That explains why they told me no when I asked about splitting things up a while back.

such a strange bizarre condition, I wonder what the actual motivation for it was to start with. I know a lot of cities implement a no singles law as to attempt to combat homeless from public drinking.

I’m pretty sure Jacob said this was the reasoning that SDPD gave him.

Yep, SDPD was specifically concerned about it in the context of the Lomaland/Pt Loma area with the confluence of transients, strip clubs, and other assorted groups. I'm a bit surprised that Alesmith was slapped with the same restriction, although many in the industry have said that the SDPD more or less opposes every new liquor license and tries to get as many restrictions placed on successful applications as possible. I imagine Alesmith will eventually be able to get rid of the limitation, as Modern Times did, but I have no idea what hoops MT had to jump through.

Just show the average sales price of cans for the past year?

Took 3 friends to NPBC yesterday.

I was telling my one friend that I was excited to try NPBC again because last time I was there, they were quite new and “had some issues to work through.”

That comment apparently irked the bartender because she immediately became defensive, interrogating me as to how I could possible make such a statement.

I told her that the last time I was there, they had only a couple beers available and may have been working out some of the recipes since this was before Hop FU batch 1 was even made available at NPBC. A pretty benign critique as most new breweries / restaurants take some time to really hit their stride.

Long story short, I enjoyed my pour of Infinite Content and the other 3 enjoyed all their beers, but we were all perplexed by the reaction of the bartender. Regardless of my comment, I decided to come back to re-evaluate AND I brought three others to try a spot they otherwise may not have tried. Overall, just a weird fight to pick with 4 customers on a slow Wednesday afternoon.

Seems weird, I think even Kelsey would tell you that the initial batches of Hop Fu were not on point.

This is purely speculation on my part based off of 2 pieces of anecdotal data, but I suspect it’s less to do with jumping through hoops and more to do with being a “good” business for 5 years… I know that SDPD immediately restricted Benchmark’s license to 10 pm before they opened, but now that they’re hitting 5 years without any violations that rule is (at least last I heard) going to be relaxed a bit. I think not coincidentally, MT just hit their 5th anniversary and can now do the single cans…

Sad how overlooked these beers are - myself included. I need to check out, like, all of them.

I'm interested. Available in cans?

Not in 16oz 4-packs but you can get a crowler of it.

BB Batch 2, 4, and 6 are my favorites so far. I think Batch 8 will be cherry sour and I'm going to buy a lot of that.

****, I'm gonna actually have to step foot in a brewery, aren't I? It kind of irks me that the only things they're canning are hazies and fruited Berliners, but public demand yadda yadda yadda. Personally I'm more interested in their milk stouts and west coast IPAs, but I guess I'm a ******* dinosaur so my opinions don't matter

I had a pour of Benchmark’s Hop Chunks last night. Went home and had a can of a hazy IPA with a similar ABV and a 4.4 rating on Untappd, and thought “Wow this is way harder to drink than the Hop Chunks I just had”.

The last truly enjoyable hazy experience I've had was Kelsey's anniversary beer - strictly because it was a hazy that didn't really taste like a hazy. I've been leaning more than ever on Pizza Port and El Segundo these days.
