I haven't. Is it SD Beer Friends bad? Or Stephen Body good?

Lets say the first one. I got sucked into it. I feel ashamed.

The first one for sure. The SD Tourism Authority (the dudes what own sanduego.org) commissioned a brewery to create an "Official Beer of San Diego."

The brewery? Bay City. Who? Exactly. They made a session IPA.

The Brewers Guild is pissed because they were never consulted on the choice. Clearly it was a "I know someone" sorta deal.

The funniest part was that it was intended to be a perfect introduction to the San Diego beer scene for tourists...which doesn't make sense because Stone has had a monopoly on those forever.

My personal opinion? The official San Diego beer should be Aurora Hoppyalis.

I would have suggested that as well, but my choices were trying to remain within the rules of Brewers Guild. As such, Ballast wouldn't be considered, but it is definitely widely known.

Got 1 for each of us as well, but we'd never do that. I would never ever chug. 40 hands with me would be a long romantic embrace for probably 2 hours. Plus, the duct tape would really hurt coming off my hairy arms.

Regarding official SD beer, probably OG Alpine Nelson would make the most sense given its universal love. Does the official SD beer need to still exist?

  • We are located at: 9990 AleSmith Court, San Diego, CA 92126
• Where can I park my vehicle?
  • You are welcome to park in available spots at our brewery address. However, a good portion of this event will extend into our parking lot severely cutting down our capacity for vehicles. We will have event staff on-hand to help direct parking traffic. Parking will be extremely limited, so we highly recommend carpooling or using alternative methods of travel such as ride-sharing services like Lyft.
• Do I need a ticket to attend the release party at the brewery on July 15th?
  • The release party is free of charge. There are no tickets required to be in attendance. We are expecting a large crowd. As such, we are subject to capacity limits in accordance to Fire Marshall code.
• How old do you have to be to attend the event? Can I bring my children?
  • On a normal day at AleSmith Brewing Co., we are a family friendly establishment with all ages welcome. However, the Sublime Release Party will be a special event. We will be checking IDs and providing wristbands to guests 21 years of age and up upon entry into the event space. We will not ban underage guests from entry into the event though. Due to the nature of the event and the amount of people expected, we highly recommend NOT bringing any minors.
• I struck out on the online bottle sale and wasn’t able to buy my 40 oz. bottle, am I still able to attend the Sublime Release Party?
  • Yes, all are welcome to attend regardless of whether or not you were able to buy a 40 oz. bottle. We do plan to bottle more 40 oz. bottles in 2018. Not sure infection is the right word for this. Unwanted flavors developed due to the rum barrels that were used maybe...but that isn't technically an infection.
