Apricot, tart citrus funk, good but not outstanding, maybe it's the poor glassware but this didn't match the hype for me, lacked the depth I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, very good, but not sure I seek out again for what it takes to land trade wise.

I really liked WA the one time I had it, but I much prefer Bernice.

ya think? might as well be drinking it out of a red solo cup at that point

I think was very good and I definitely drink it again. But I'm not going to trade the world for it. It was a bit one dimensional, it nailed that dimension, but I was hoping for some more depth.

Maybe some more age? I think this was the most recent batch. I was wanted to taste the fruit fresher though.

I like to bust balls for shaker pints too, but functionally, are they any different than tumblers?

I'll buy into aroma being moderately influenced by glassware. But I think the effect on taste is negligible.

Proper glassware always makes a beer taste better.

We've done a comparison with four glasses over four beers. We didn't know the beers so didn't know what to expect (asked my gf for something hoppy, malty, a combo and a mystery beer).

Spiegelau Stemmed and IPA were amazingly superior to regular cheap tulip and teku. I would've said they would all perform similarly but there was a massive and noticeable difference with all styles.

Fun experiment and I would recommend trying it out if you can.

Also one of the beers was SN Torpedo and when she bought it the guy at the shop was like "are you sure, it's really bitter". She lold.

X-post from DDT. Not bad, only cost $8 for the bomber but Tank 7 is so much better for the same price. It's got a Belgiany funk to it that just doesn't do it for me with this beer. Not a bad beer, but I don't think I'd get it again.

I picked up the Transient dry hopped saison on Friday, interested to see how that one is.

There was some negativity about this beer once it was released. I think people were thinking it would be on the level of Side Project 375s and Jester King 500mls. It's a really well made, great saison. I love the orange on the finish. Great job to all breweries involved. Happy to dome all 750mls.

Really want to try this for it being decidedly unlike SP 375s and JK 500s, failed at getting a case at cost and shipping from a skate buddy that lives in Austin :(

DDT x-post. 5/28/2015 batch so just passed the one year mark.

Noticeably more tart with the lime still present. Blood orange providing a nice citrus note still. Dry finish. Prefer this one fresh as the lime is brighter and it's not quite as tart.

Weird, just had this batch on friday and thought it was outstanding due to how well it's held up without getting too sour. But I tend to agree that soigne is best fresh.

Maybe this is already common knowledge/prevailing thought, but I find the intensity of sour flavors is highly dependent on temperature. If I drink a sour or brett forward beer at refrigerator temp the sourness overwhelms everything else, as it warms it develops and flavors begin to emerge. I've taking to letting these bottles sit for 20-30 minutes at room temperature before I open them.

Upright Brewing Anniversary Saison 2016

#properglassware, but it is damn near impossible to tell with the color of the logo being so light.

Dry, earthy, Brett forward, highly carbed and refreshing with a bit of lactic tartness. Great stuff and I'm always happy when I get to try some new Upright.

How did you manage to get an Upright glass?!?!?!

New saisons yesterday. I'll focus on the two outstanding ones. This Brew Gentleman was absolutely right at HF level. Reminded me a lot of Arthur. Brett, dry, carb, light. Perfect on a hot day. The Wildflower from Good Beer had so many different flavors from the Amarillo hop. Grapefruit, grass, orange juice, and still plenty of Brett. Great carb and mouthfeel too. So light. Crushed both of these yesterday afternoon while the kids napped.

Awesome to hear about the Homegrown Saison. I have a bottle of that in the fridge and plan to open it tonight based on your notes!
