speaking of kent falls, going to an event for them tomorrow. here's the list so far
Waymaker Brett IPA
Juicemaker Brett IPA w/ mangos
Coffeemaker Brett IPA w/ Coffee
Coffee Milk Stout
Shower Beer Lime Zest Gose
Solstice Hoppy Sour Saison
Had the coffeemaker on tap and it was so ******* good. Then I had it out of a bottle and it was so not good. Solid list, though, haven't seen shower beer in awhile.

I'm wondering if bottling is an issue with these guys. I had heard good things. Then I had some of their saisons out of the bottle and was very underwhelmed. They weren't necessarily bad, but not something I'd seek out again. Maybe I just had some bad bottles.

Coffeemaker is the only one with which I've had an issue.

Can anyone comment on how limited Monkish saisons/ wilds are? I'd like to try some, but am unsure what it will take... Will Trillium hops/ HF shelf bottles get any bites?

Same here. To be fair I've only had one, the Farmer's Table, but it was very underwhelming.

The clean saisons are fine. Nothing exotic but nothing wrong with them. The brett versions I've had are good. I like them better than the clean versions but again not anything exotic. Pretty much your classic brett flavors.

Quality-wise you should have zero problems making that trade. Hype-wise, well who knows.

I've had a really easy time getting beers from Monkish (as well as pretty much anything from southern california besides adjunct stouts from Bottle Logic.) A recent trade I'm doing the guy tossed in a Biere de Garde from Monkish just because i said i was interested in them.

Saint Somewhere / Blaugies / De La Senne / Thiriez Fraternité.

How I wish I could find a Thiriez glass! (Any chance someone has one to trade or can help locate one?)

The beer is fantastic, and certainly lives up to the reputations of the brewers involved. Light and airy body with ample carbonation and a nice lingering bitterness. Solid charge of grassy, floral hops up front with just a touch of fruit that sets it apart from the usual offerings from the European brewers involved.

What's the story with that beer? Seasonal or one time only?

No acetone? What was the St Somewhere contribution?

The fact that these European brewers reapect Saint Somewhere enough to collaborate with them is something I don't get.

What is wrong with Saint Somewhere? Not all the beers I've had from them are fantastic but I've yet to have a bad one and most have been very good. On top of that Bob is a really nice guy who absolutely loves saison so why wouldn't they respect him?

Most of the beers I've had from Saint Somewhere have been pretty bad.

That coupled with him having really condescending and often wrong opinions about saisons means he's like the Florida 3% more tolerable version of the Trinity guy.
I'm curious what opinions of his are wrong? I've never seen him come off as condescending from what I've heard he is generally well liked and respected by other brewers especially ones who brew saisons. I get not liking the Trinity guy but I've never heard any of this about Bob before.

Hang around Milk the Funk or the Saison FB groups long enough and you'll get a Bob special.

I am generally not really a fan of that beer. It is extremely boring. Well made, as far as I can tell, but nothing interesting about it. I've had a number of other Kent Falls beers out of the bottle that have been great, though - the gose, Field Beer Spelt, Beer 2, etc.

I like this a lot. The brett is pretty restrained, but it's there. Getting a lot of typical saison phenols, especially some clove that is really nice without overpowering. Great mouthfeel & carbonation too. Would bang again and again. I'm really looking forward to vol 2 and vol 3.

Cleaning out the cabinet to make room for my first trip to Casey this weekend. My first East Bank (12/4/14 date), haven't been able to try one fresh. Lemony tart, minimal funk and a bit of oak leaving some dryness on the finish. Going to have to get some tof the fresh batch to compare, as I hear it was great.

It goes like this:

There has been only one rendition of saison through history. I know what it is and you don't because I read Farmhouse Ales before you did.

If you do not brew saison like I do then you are doing it wrong because remember, there is only one way it can be brewed.

For that matter, any kind of brewing that isn't how I brew is wrong, especially if it involves kettle souring.

Nobody knows more about saison than some guy in Florida.

Green glass was traditionally used by saison brewers because it makes the beer skunky, which is part of the magic, even if no Belgian or French farmhouse brewery has ever been credited with that belief and Dupont has expressed pretty much the exact opposite view.

I know the truth about saison fermentation because I bought WY3724 just like nobody else.

Now it's wrong to call your beer saison unless you brew in Wallonia. So now call my beers farmhouse beers because that's more authentic in the industrial park where I brew. Plus, saison brewers in Wallonia know less about saison than I do.

God damn. Ourison is stellar.

Creamy, pillowy mouth feel with just the right amount of carbonation. Taste follows the nose with a nice balance of lemon and stonefruit with a bit of brett funkiness. Restrained acidity and a well-rounded oak character to finish things off.

Thanks michael!
