I haven't found Cask 200 especially sour... ymmv

This was a nice extra. Kinda hesitated to open due to the description, "Artamas is a blended saison produced in cooperation with BFM. It's funky & sour with a hint of oak smoke." BFM and oak smoke both gave me pause, but I'm enjoying this solo...

Why does BFM give you pause? SqRrt 225 is excellent and Bon Chien is usually great. Double points for being shelf stuff here.

This. There's not a better mixed fermentation shelf saison than SqRt IMO (and frankly I'd put it up against just about any Saison, shelf or rar). It hits all the right notes for me. Bon Chien usually delivers too.

I've always enjoyed Duchessa, but this was the first time I finally got to try this. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this blows the OG out of the water, but damn. The addition of the trademark Cantillon lemony funky tartness was perfect. It still drinks like a saison, though. Awesome. I need more (insert my regular moaning about us not having b. United distro).

I only had it a few times on tap, so maybe it's a better in the bottle thing, but I was already really into Brett and was not into it. This was quite a while ago, so I should revisit.

First and only batch of this one. Unfortunately I have not seen any more of these on the shelf.

Aroma: Damp hay, pepper, wet earth, lemon, and light funkiness. Just great.
Taste: Bone dry- pepper and hay come through the most at first, then some nice lemony citrus and earthiness. I think the brett has really eaten up everything in here leaving a very dry, crisp product. I wish it had some more tartness to it at is the acidity level is very minimal. Still a wonderful saison, though - just needs a bit more zip to it.

That sounds nice. I hope Enlightenment gets going again down the road because Verdance is one of my favorite beers I've had so far this year (Transcendence was good too, but not quite on the same level)

From what Ben Howe's been hinting at on Facebook, there are plans in the works back here in the states. The question is what and when. Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it.

"Best by" date of 12-15.

A: fluffy white everlasting head. Hazy, bright copper color.

N: warm biscuits. Very mild English hops. Maybe a little spice and pepper, but it's very faint. pleasant.

T: more grains, biscuits, and crackers. Very tender, faded citrus and pepper. Slightly sweet on the finish. It's all subtle and works perfectly together.

M: amazing. Very filling on the front, but dries out towards the end. I wish I could recreate this with my own beers.

O: I feel bad about overlooking this beer all the time. It should be a warm weather staple in my fridge.

Especially the 12oz bottles.

I don't have this often enough, especially considering every time I do, I can't believe how good & consistent (& cheap) it is.

Opened this after talking about it in the morning & it delivered as always. Slightly tart, lots of grape, bit of funk all with some good spice backing it up. It's pretty much my perfect beer. I haven't had it on draft before, though, so I'm not sure how different that is, but I'd say if you had a bad experience it's worth revisiting. I like it fresh, but it's even better with a little age (or quite a bit. The last b1 I opened blew me away... Gotta save the last few of those for special occasions or something).

Holy Mountain City of Light is Bernice/duFermier-tier. My thoughts were echoed by at least 3 other farmhouse drinkers at our Mania share last night. Thanks to libbey! Stupendous!

Been saying! Track down Misere Au Borinage if you can. These two bottles in particular I think are SARA tier.

Okay. In. Srs i'll buy into the Holy Mountain thing.

Could drink much of this.

They are the real deal, we're very happy to have beers like these being made locally.

Continuing with my small Enlightenment series I've got going...

From the label this was double dry-hopped and then conditioned with brett for a period of time. Then, a batch of younger beer was blended back in before bottling.

This is probably my second favorite offering from Enlightenment behind Verdance. Great carbonation. Aroma is orange, damp hay, and bubblegum. Plus a generous dose of barnyard and earthy funk. You can definitely discern the dry-hopping. Medium-bodied with a huge amount of fruitiness - a mixture of fruity esters from the brett and the herbal/citrusy hops. Well-attenuated and dry, but leaving a huge depth of funk and flavor. Gets even better as it warms up a bit. Need to find more!
