It's going to be a chore to finish this bottle. The first half a pour or so tasted fine, but as it warms up it becomes malty, flat, and kinda soapy. I have no idea how old the bottle is. It very well could've been sitting on the store shelf for years.
Opened one a couple of week ago that blew me away... in a good way.

I so wish I had bought more of this beer. It was amazing. Very similar to HF Saisons IMO. Supremely drinkable with nice notes of lime and bready/grainy flavors. I drank on this bottle for over an hour. Bums me out to know Ben isn't doing these beers here anymore but the folks in Denmark are getting superb stuff for sure.

Finally picked up a couple Blackberry Farms bottles. DuPointish saison with a nutty maltiness. Maybe a little bit or rye. Just a really solid and dialed in saison. Despite the price point I'll probably buy one of these again.
If it wasn't for the price I'd have a fridge full of their stuff. I've never been disappointed.

I think dark versions of saisons are almost always bad, but Brouerweij West does an export stout with saison yeast that I really enjoyed. Something I've thought about brewing for a few years and always been hesitant to try.

Generally yes, but recently had a Bam Noir that was amazing. JP culture FTW.

SRS question re: Blackberry Farm. Why by BF instead of the Belgian saisons they're emulating?

I don't see DuPont often any more. At all in my state of MS it was completely dropped by all distributors. That said I've come across Blackberry Farm pretty often in my travels. Only once have I paid over 12.99 a bottle. In TN, AL, and LA I've gotten all their base line beers at 12.99 or below. That's not too bad really. But I get your point about other places. I saw bottles in PA not long ago that were $19.99. That's all distributors there I think.

Yazoo Embrace the Funk - Brett Saison ReMiXeD

This is their Brett Saison put into wine barrels for secondary fermentation with local Nashville native LAB and yeasts. Tart blueberry, apricot and peach, with a touch of white wine character. Just a little bit of spice and pepper character and finishes super dry. I was dumb for not buying more earlier this year.

No DuPont! Holy **** that sucks! :(

Believe me I know. I used to be the only one that bought it and I thought that was lucky. Turns out it's not. Distro dropped it because it wasn't selling. I have a few bottles stashed away but days of grabbing a 4 pack on the way home from work are gone.

Not too long ago, we started getting saisons from Birds Fly South. I had their Rustic Sunday which is a rye saison, over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. It was very funky and odd at first but it grew on me after a few sips and I loved it by the end. It's very crisp, and their house yeast is pretty darn funky.

I've got a couple of their other saisons in the fridge to try another night. I'm having Paper Airplanes (Brett pale) right now and it's delicious which is what reminded me to post about their saisons.

Great folks there too. I haven't had any of their beer just yet but I hope to get over there soon.

Just seeing this.
They've been in my distro area for a while now and so I was just really curious. Also, that bottle was only a few months old. Some of those DuPonts and Thiriez bottles hang around for a bit so I'm weary of getting an extra skunky bottle. I really want to grab another Train to Mars bottle but the last Thiriez bottle I had wasn't in the best shape.
