Had my first fantomes. The De Tous Les D'jâpes was my favorite but neither were life altering. Tonka tasted like Cuvee des Flores.
The rustic pentagram...so it is supposed to be a "Sour Mango Saison" It tasted like sour vinegar dill pickles. Reminded me of Zapp's Cajun Dill Pickle Chips (ps zapps makes some of the best chips). As it warmed and opened up I got a hint of the fruit but it had a really under-ripe taste to it.

Batch 1 from Feb 2015, has aged well picking up some nice juicy citrus and a bit of earthy stonefruit, low funk, very low tartness, very dry, light drinking for 8%. Worth putting away a couple of batch 2s if you see them in stores near you and can get them for under $15.

Happy Easter & Saison Sunday

3/30/15 Casey Saison in my Funk Factory stem I that break out far too infrequently.

Musty / eathy aromatics blend with fruity / bright / citrusy hop / brett tones in the flavor, finishing clean and dry although the carbonation on this batch is a little lacking.

Really one of my favorites at the moment and I'm going to need to try and setup a bulk trade coming up for the summer.

Cheers!

Have two of this batch, good to hear as 01/2015 was kind of bland, although we had just drank some pretty assertive beerz. May have been better to start with the Casey and move on to Bebeme, To The Choir, etc

I enjoyed a Tired Hands spent cherry saison today with my local pizza tosser:

Are you drinking with Radagast the Brown?

What are some nice local tart saisons that you guys have easy access to? Thinking of working out a trade for some saisons like this as I don't have the ammo for Casey, HF, Sante etc...

Love being in NorCal for work.
Saison Bernice @ the source.
It really is "tart + lovely".

I've never had saison bernice. Is it actually tart? i thought this was just a clean base saison that gets soured in wood for their wild beers.

Anaïs is their house saison, which is clean. And awesome. Some would probably say "boring" but I like it. It is soured in stainless to become Bernice, and then Bernice gets apricots added in Pinot Noir barrels to become West Ashley.

Bernice is very lightly tart. Not even close to the acidity of things like Side Project, Casey, and De Garde saisons. I like it the way it is though. Saisons shouldn't be difficult to drink more than 8 ounces of like the last Saison du Ble I drank was.

The new de Garde beers over the last couple of months have definitely been toned down acidity wise. Trevor was unhappy with how sour they get so he started using more hops to decrease the bacteria growth and it worked.

All I know is that the Citrus Desay I had the other day was difficult to drink and Foeder d'or (not a saison, but still) was possibly the most acidic beer I've ever tasted. I should probably try to get some newer De Gardes though.

2013 Boulevard Saison Brett

A: The beer pours a beautiful golden hue with a giant cap of fluffy head. Super tiny bubbles leave steaks of amazing lacing. Purty.

S: Lemon rinds and funk. Great earthy Brett notes. Barnyard and a light bready bisquit note on the end.

T: Beautiful bretted saison. Notes of funk mixed with stone fruit and citrus zest.

M: Incredibly dried out from the Brett. Super snappy finish with lingering notes of lemon rind and earthy barnyard/hay.

O: This was an awesome treat. Best by date was 02-02-15. This was certainly holding up past that. Yum.
