Pancake: So much in such a small word. There’s a certain mysticism in the simple pancake. Simple because it’s easy to make and deliscous, and the number of sauces that can be added are infinite. With chocolate, maple, strawberry jam or even alone, a thick pancake simply has no competition.

There is a legend that states that if you can make a proper pancake, you will never be burned by the fire of love. If you attempt this recipe, odds are you’ll succeed.
Just don’t forget two things:
1 Don’t be afraid of thickness
2 The first one usually comes out a bit ugly, so don’t give up!

Ingredients:

1 cup flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg

Mix together the wet ingredients (oil, egg, milk, and vanilla extract) in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix together all of the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder).
Pour the contents of the wet bowl into the dry.
Stir until the mixture is smooth, thick and without lumps.

Heat a pan with a small amount of oil over a medium flame.
Allow the oil to heat up. When it’s hot, pour the batter into the pan using a ladle.
After bubbles appear, the pancakes can be flipped. After another minute, the pancakes are ready.

Haha. I know. He not only makes his own pizza, but he built the brick pizza oven too. I have envy.

Portable brick oven that is..........:cross:

It is parked by his grove of maple trees, his home made cold fusion reactor and his autographed picture of himself....kicking Bruce Lee's ass...;)

Aw, c'mon guys. It isn't really like that. When you're only good at one or two things you just gotta make the most of it. Culinary badass? Hardly.;)

And humble too........jeez what a jerk.;)

What? Pancakes and pizza are your ONLY talents?????(and brick oven making)

I don't believe it.

And just the home made brick oven and the perfection of pizza crust earn you the "Culinary Bad Ass" membership card. Don't tell me you haven't recieved it.

BACK OT!!!!!!lol

I don't now if they are pancakes anymore, but my corn meal cakes with honey (from the bees I produced through artificial insemination which I hand fed from birth, and I genetically engineered the clover they fed from, as they lived in the hand carved hive I made out of a dead gopher and an old pair of pants, next to the autographed picture of me kicking Chuck Norris' ass.;)) are....what was I saying??

Anyways, the corn cakes are heavenly!

I hereby confer the honorary degree of CBA to Steve|evetS.

I wouldn't worry too much about the topic. I have a funny feeling the OP will become very scarce. Just a guess.

I always wish he was single. Then I remember, that I am not single anyway. :D

Pizza and the other thing? What a guy. Again, see response #1. :p

Really? I just learned something! Thanks. The pancakes are huge hit - add a little lemon zest and they'll really pop. Huge hit with the family.

Looks like pancakes for dinner. They kids will be happy, the wife not so much :D However, the syrup will not be homemade it will be Mrs.. Butterworth.

Mrs Butterworth's? Really? Dude, you really need to make the leap to REAL maple syrup. There is no maple in Mrs. Butterworth's, it's all corn syrup & artificial flavouring. Once you go real maple, you can't go back.
Regards, GF.

A friend has offered some type of gunk residue from maple syrup making process to make beer out of. Anyone try this before?

Here's my regular oatmeal pancake recipe. My favorite.

Mix dry ingredients with whisk
3/4 cup oatmeal (ground in blender)
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar

Add wet ingredients to the dry mix and whisk together
1-1/4 cups milk, buttermilk, or cream
(depending on what's available and how creamy I want the flavor and feel)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
3 tablespoons melted butter, the salted stick butter

I cook them on the griddle with no added oil or grease. The butter in the recipe keeps them from sticking. No need to butter unless you want to and I top with maple syrup. I've made these by substituting part of the milk with an oatmeal stout that I had made. It was delicious. It added some color and malty flavor to the pancakes.

The pancake of my dreams would be cooked by Julia Child (hey, it's my dream ok?) but Julia would stay in the kitchen. Those tasty cakes would be served to me in bed by this lovely lady:

I can't say any more or I'd get in trouble.
Regards, GF.
