There's a few orchards nearby for apple/late pumpkin picking. We visited Mead Orchards a mile or two down the road last time and it was fun. There's also a winery nearby as well, and Hudson NY has some nice restaurants and sights. I'm not too well-versed with the area, only been up 2 or 3 times.

It's on for 11/25. Eating lunch @ Fish & Game in Hudson at 12:30 when they open > Suarez. I guess my only concern is whether the vintage stuff sells out quickly, as we probably won't be there until 2-2:30.

I'm sure there will be a share during the Phish run somewhere with the PT beer thread crowd, but I'll be up for doing stuff elsewhere and over Thanksgiving week when I'm around if people organize something.

So is this a legit, legal tapping (I have to imagine it is, since it’s being advertised and promoted well in advance), and if so, does NYC now get Three Floyds?

yeah, Union is now distributing 3 Floyds. I think only Zombie Dust is coming for the moment. Not sure how much but it will definitely be around. One Mile House posted about it maybe a week ago. I will harass the union rep on tuesday to get more info.

Once I saw this flyer, I myself wondered how much we'd be seeing it in the future here...

Not sure if this was already mentioned somewhere but RnH East (the original one) will be closing its doors next week.

anything fun happening this Saturday?

I know it's far as can be for you, but Mikkeller NYC is doing another "tailgating" event this Saturday. Last Sunday, all house lagers were discounted to:
pints $4
liter steins $7
64oz pitchers $10
plus they had some good bbq and wings as a special menu.

I might go to watch the Michigan game and drink steins.

I still haven't made it out there but could be a good reason to make it...
what would be my easiest way to get there from either Penn or WTC?

I went out there last month from Chelsea and it's pretty painless but takes a little while. If you come into WTC just take the 4/5 up to Grand Central to get on the 7. Then you just take the 7 for like half an hour, 18 stops or so. Once you get off the subway it's less than 5 minutes of walking. The space is awesome and the house beers and guest taps are pretty sick!

Just make slawg drive you.
If you’re going to do the trip, you might as well figure out what to eat as well. Flushing is obviously an option but plenty of good cuisine throughout.

I have to confirm my plans but would love any:
szechuan
dumpling
dim sum
ramen
sushi
pupusa
(or any must try) recommendations.

szechuan

Szechuan Mountain House is #1. Spicy and Tasty is #2. Flushing food court is #3. Nothing else matters.

But seriously go to Mountain House. Get the hanging pork to start (it's cold) and get the sour beef soup (eeeeee) and the lotus root with wood ear to cool down the spices from whatever spicy dish you choose to get (everything is good) (the spicy chicken is delightful) (so is the twice cooked pork) (and the fish with green peppers) (oh my god I'm so envious).

Asian boner over 9000 right now... and I don't mean the size.
Hey, raginasian238, tell Ms. Le to holler at me.

I'm heading to NYC tomorrow for Thanksgiving. My sister lives on the upper east side, so my wife and I will be there tomorrow and Thursday, but on Friday, they all want to take me out to Brooklyn for the day for my 30th.

My sister wants to hit Torst and probably Spuytin Duyvil, but I'm open to any and all suggestions. Not looking for anything in particular (don't need to chase rare 'loons or Singlecut drafts), looking more for very good selection at a place where six or so people could hang out for a few hours.

do people chase singlecut drafts?

I would avoid Torst for various reasons. Spuyten's draft list is usually not too exciting since they only have 6 lines (and right now 4 of them are zero gravity).

brooklyn bars for groups:
Threes
Bar Great Harry
Owl Farm
Hops Hill (full disclosure, i work there)
Gold Star Beer Counter

If you prefer to stay in the Wburg area, I suggest going to Interboro and Grimm. They are a couple minute walk from each other.

Also, go to Bondurants while in the Upper East.

Where on the UES? I live in the neighborhood and Bondurants is my regular spot. Definitely worth checking out, always a solid beer and whiskey selection and the food is great. Shoot me a PM if you want to meet up there for a beer on Friday or Saturday. They are cool about sharing as well so I'll definitely bring something along.

If you're looking for something to do tomorrow night, Dive Bar on 96/Amsterdam should have all the BCBS variants on tap. Planning on heading there after class, prob. will arrive around 9-9:30.

And happy bday! I'm turning 30 myself next week, not looking forward to the end of my 20s haha.

I second all of this, but will add that if you end up going to Interboro and/or Grimm, and also want to try lots of other beers, The Well is a very spacious bar that is right in that neighborhood, has a ridiculous number of draft lines, and generally a very good selection.

Awesome; thanks, man. May end up passing on Spuyten, especially if that's the case. I like the idea of Interboro and Grimm, since they're close together. I've heard good things about Owl Farm and Hops Hill.

As far as Singlecut...I dunno. Here in DC people tend to go pretty bananas for them.
