I'd be surprised if the proxy perk isn't useless to most people in that tier. Jacob told me after the KS that I was the only person that had used it during that period of time. And the people that have spent enough to get invited have to live close enough to get there in time to pick it up, right? So how many people that are big spenders, make it to SD regularly already, but won't in the future enough to demand a proxy are there?
I'd guess five to ten just based on anecdotal data, probably closer to five. I can confirm at least one person who was in that position for this year and there are a couple other people I think are in that boat.

As far as making it down often enough, the IPAs are the big draw there, in that you can order them, have a proxy pick them up, and have them shipped to you. Sure, your proxy could just buy them and work out a trade or get paid back, but being able to elect a proxy for them allows the non-local member to get credit for the spend (thereby maintaining their "status") and get the IPAs without driving down here every month. Is it a fringe case? Yeah, pretty much, but it's not crazy in the context of rewarding their biggest spenders.

Might want to talk with Jacob again. I have already been used as a proxy pickup...I also happen to know that at least 4 of the top spenders are most definitely out of state. So a proxy perk for them would be ideal.

Eh, I'm long gone. They made it too hard to take my money.

Yes, IMO it should be all or nothing in the way of proxies. Again, that is my opinion and anyone is free to disagree but that is how I see it. Like you said, I would guess that most people that are in that tier have no need for a proxy as they are locals.
Until you've worked at a huge beer club and packed up literally 2 pallets of beer (110 cases of different brands) that were loaded onto to a semi-truck because 1 proxy was picking up for 17 different members and sending them via a trucking company to the midwest, then you don't know how hard it is logistically. Not to mention that I did all of that during an extremely busy day.

One thing that I tried to bring up to people on facebook was that a brewery is a business. As a business, offering proxies to everyone would allow us to instantly sell way more beer and make way more money during a time that we are expanding, but we still don't do it. So there is clearly reasons that run deeper than what you're thinking with this. It's going to be a ton of extra work, and maybe a mistake by offering this to the people who buy more beer than anyone, but we think it's worth busting our ass to offer that to the extent that we logistically can.

Cheers,

Steven Michael

Based on all the events you go to, volunteer for, and cheerleading/support you do for MT, I'm willing to bet that you'll be offered the upgrade.

If I do get in, I hope some of the swag will be MT branded pom poms.

I know that Xul was asking for brightly colored booty shorts....not so sure I can get onboard with that request.

I proxy for over 15 people across 5 different memberships. All unpaid. I feel no sympathy for your 1 proxy picking up for 17 members.

I said a track suit and fanny pack, not booty shorts. I know my limitations...

I could have sworn you said booty shorts in that FB post. Maybe it was the person above you and I somehow attributed it to you since it would have made me chuckle. Either way, I still can't get onboard with it. Nobody wants to see me in booty shorts...not even me.

In for renewing and hopefully in for the Theory of Leisure Committee.

I have zero time or desire chasing down beers in the Bay Area, so ordering MT online and picking them up when I'm in San Diego is still easier than chasing down beers up here.

Between MT and Casa and a solid Midwest RTP, I think all my beer needs will be covered, ha.

It took way longer than it should have, but I finally realized driving, lining up, wasting hours of my time for some cans or bottles is not worth it.

Casa FTMFW. So dope they are shipping cans next year. Their IPAs are only getting better too.

Just had a Casa El Camino IPA last night, fantastic. Oh, and please change your name to SanFranciscoJoe2017 asap.
