There’s lots of nimby-ism in the northern coastal towns. I get the impression that residents seem to think they’re one tasting room away from turning into PB.can someone explain to me the crux of the opposition in encinitas? is it a bunch of teetotaler nimbys? idgi

I wonder if people will EVER learn that brewery /= bar? I've never seen fights at a brewery, I have never seen people puking all over themselves at a brewery. Never seen any of the other negative things that are associated with bars, at a brewery.Their argument the last time was "we don't want to become PB" "we are known now as a party town".
I have a few simple steps to alleviate this.
1. No one considers Encinitas a party town, not even the residents
2. Pull the liquor licenses from DStreet, Urban, and the Saloon
3. Welcome Modern Times with open arms as they are creating jobs, working out of building that couldn't ever be retail, will bring monies into the coffee shop on one side and the burrito place on the other.
There are also the reports of more drunk driving, which Jacob is constantly fighting and is the reason he builds next to mass-transit stops. They suggested that maybe Jacob move it more inland, but that defeats the whole purpose of mass transit and could create more drunk driving getting out of Encinitas (seems the naysayers didn't think of this...likely because they live on the beach).
Another big argument is that since MT would close at 10pm then the patrons would quickly head to another spot and continue drinking. I couldn't exactly dispute this since I have done it....but I can say that I tend to go to another brewery that is about to close (i.e. Alesmith) as opposed to a bro&hoe bar.
But yeah, Encinitas is a crap town for getting anything done unless you want to open up an antique shop or a yarn store it seems. Having lived there for a better part of my life, I was excited to leave...although I still retain my parent's address on my driver's license so I can take advantage of discounts at the Olivenhain Beer & Brat fest, their Oktoberfest...and then things like this city council hangup.
Looked down upon for obviously being a "kid" comparatively due to age of the opposition but they quickly change their tune when I basically prove I have been a resident of Encinitas for almost 25yrs. Longer than almost all of them.
Oh, and then conversations about how they declined to let Bagby build there and now look at him. Plenty of jobs, plenty of money flowing out of Encinitas to Oceanside. The city really ****** up on that one.
dude you're gonna get banned.Warning: Slightly entitled post incoming
ModernTimesSteven is there a reason why limits are at 2pp when there are not enough bottles in total to go around to all members? Especially when there is usually extended limits after a couple of days? Personally the #1 reason to be in a membership is to not have to rush to buy bottles but instead purchase at leisure.
Not a major complaint, just some food for thought/constructive criticism.

Agree lol.![]()
Though we know that isn't true, this isn't the JWB club. I feel one of MTs strongest points is listening and adjusting to customer feedback
You need a 'nilla bro?Warning: Slightly entitled post incoming

Depends. Doing Karaoke tonight and it's a BYOB place. I just made 64oz of Nui Nui (a tiki drink) so tomorrow could be roughWas contemplating that or the BA Devil's tooth to split for a friend, but i am good, i have enough beer. I just thought it was weird with the low counts.
P.s. you want to come over and watch the Packers game tomorrow?
Damn, that's a lot of rum.Depends. Doing Karaoke tonight and it's a BYOB place. I just made 64oz of Nui Nui (a tiki drink) so tomorrow could be rough
32 oz of rum, should make 16 drinks. 10 attendees. Should be fine.Damn, that's a lot of rum.

Haha. I've been making a lot of tiki drinks lately but haven't batched anything out like that, yet. I feel like it would get me in trouble.I would get arrested.
It definitely isn't the same. Shaking a drink and diluting it is essential. Still tasty though.Haha. I've been making a lot of tiki drinks lately but haven't batched anything out like that, yet. I feel like it would get me in trouble.
They sent out a league email I will have to double check. But the last two years have been late October.Have there been any talks yet of when new memberships will go on sale?

Invites to the Theory of Leisure Committee (new, higher tier) will be in October. They sent out a league email I will have to double check. But the last two years have been late October.
BTW, who got an invite for the higher tier?Have there been any talks yet of when new memberships will go on sale?
League Welcome Party will also be mid-December (probably 12/17), since I know someone will ask...Invites to the Theory of Leisure Committee (new, higher tier) will be in October.
Renewals for League will be in November.
New League memberships will open once the renewal period is over (likely late November/early December, but not specified).
Invites haven't been sent out yet. There are 100 slots, a round of invites will be sent out in October, then there will likely be another (smaller) round of invites in November if people from the first batch of invites don't opt to upgrade. And before people start throwing out totals of how much they've spent, it will be based on a mix of BPT spends, tasting room spends, longevity in the League, participation level in events (both fests and monthly preview tastings), and whatever else they feel like considering.BTW, who got an invite for the higher tier?
