Oaked? Like oak chips?

I haven't asked Matt what they use. I know (or, better, I think I remember someone telling me) many, many years ago at the original NEBCO (Gold Stock predates even Rob), it was spirals. Either spirals or chips now, I assume...

EDIT: Per the website:

Can only be described as a German Pale Ale. Dry hopped with Perle, Hallertau, Saaz, Tettnang and aged on oak chips, Gold Stock Ale offers clean malt sweetness and lots of grassy and floral noble hop qualities.

Oh god...I need this in and around my mouth hole...

It's unbelievably good, but I think the reason it stands out so much for me is that it's so unique. FBD is incredible, for example, but there are plenty of Citra single hop IPAs out there. I've never had another beer like Gold Stock and I would be surprised if I ever did. Makes it all the more ridiculous that's a 20+ year old recipe.

Can. Not. Wait. To. Try. This!!!

I second this. I'm taking the day off for the tap takeover this year. I somehow still have not made it to one yet.
That's what I did last year. I also got a hotel in walking distance and split a room with a friend. Worked VERY WELL.

Due to circumstances out of my control, I was unable to attend yesterday. Seemed like it was a great success. Can't wait to get down there.
I would just like to note, Dino is one hell of a member of the craft beer community in CT.
Was my pleasure to make sure you got a growler of the FBD goodness...

My parents live within walking distance if you allow for a good beer jacket, so I think I'm just gonna do that.. but yeah, I am beyond stoked. Now they need to hurry up and announce the date.

I think it's usually in late January.

Does anybody know if they're open tomorrow, Xmas eve? If so, what are the hours and what's on tap? I'm getting out of work a lil early and am thinking of making a trip up.

Thanks in advance!

Facebook post from last week says 11-3 tomorrow. Not sure what's still on tap. Line was apparently huge again today.

I guess bottles of imperial stout trooper are out now... 99 bottles in Norwalk posted they got a case in.

Yup. Just grabbed one.

Though, I think they might be overcharging. Looking back on my receipt, it rang up at $13.99. Didn't notice it immediately, but just checked the math a moment ago. Oh well.

EDIT: They also have bottles of Friar's Quad and Premeditated Murder in the back of the store for those who might be running by to grab some IST.

Another crazy day in Woodbridge. Arrived at opening, took an hour to get through the line. Got my first fill off FBD. Good beer but I get similar aroma and taste profile from super fresh Sea Hag. Unless they swapped wrong keg. Excited for tener #3 tonight.

There were some IST bottles around New Haven today too. Snagged the last bottle at Amity. The beer guy said they went though 5 cases in about an hour without posting they had it.

The lines at the brewery the last few days have been crazy. Waited an hour yesterday (which was definitely worth it for the FBD and IST fills) after I showed up 20 mins before opening. The line stretched outside to the far side of the building in the rain.

Super, super fresh Sea Hag (I'm talking right off the brite tank) is arguably one of the ten best IPAs I've ever had. Of course, 98% of the Sea Hag I've ever had is at least a week old, and it's just not the same. Granted, I've had super super fresh Sea Hag, and I haven't had most of the IPAs I really like right off a brite tank, so I'd probably say the same thing about them if I did.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the trip up today. If anyone happens to have an extra growler of IST for trade and possibly a FBD please BM me. I'm sure I'll have something to make it worth your while. If not, I'll just have to taste vicariously through your Untappd check-ins and Instagram pics.

Sea Had less than week old is a beautiful thing. Had a few more glasses of FBD and obviously much different beer. More pungent and not as much lingering bitterness.

Are the bottles the same size as last year (16.9oz) or are they back to using 750 mLs ?

I believe they're 500s (it's possible I'm wrong, as I haven't seen a 2013 IST yet), and I believe that'll be the ongoing format now. 500 mLs or cans for the normal rotating releases, 375 mLs for the barrel aged stuff.

500 mL like last year. The only thing that looks different is the background is grey instead of black. When they started changing around bottle formats last year they said they were going for 12 ounce cans for regular stuff, 500 mL bottles for seasonal releases, and 375 mL for brewery only special releases to make things more uniform.
