Anyone crack into an '18 BA IST bottle yet? This was a pretty gentle pour and the head just kept rising, ten minutes later and its still above the rim. Seems to be highly carbed. Not really getting any off flavors but the carb is masking a lot of what's going on. Really one dimensional. I'm hardly an expert but is this a sign of infection? Reminds me a lot of '17 Back East's BA stout (crazy carb) rather than BA IST of year's past.

The on-site pour I had smelled way off, biggest let down beer of 2019 so far...

Two of my friends went down, had a pour on site, and left without buying bottles because of this. Both said that it didn't seem infected but was still off. Untappd reviews have been largely positive.

True or not, I tend to think Untappd reviews are pretty pointless from a quantitative perspective... some visual review of photos makes it clear this carb thing davey101 mentioned is not a one-off but pretty consistent. Too bad. Even if its not infection, overcarbonation ruins beers like this beyond repair for me.

Yeah I like my stouts with very little. I've force carbed homebrews to make sure they pour so that you get a decent head with an aggressive pour, but nothing in the mouthfeel.
I agree the draft left more to be desired. I think I'll pop a bottle this weekend and give you guys a review.

Yup, every sip is like drinking foam. Not what I want from a BA stout. Bought the six bottles too.

davey101 the same thing happened to me. I bought 6 bottles :(
Ugh. Carb was def on the higher side when I QC'd bottles pre-release, but not to that point. We use a small amount of non-BA beer in the blending process, and I'm guessing it still had a bit of gravity left - combined with the priming sugar, it left the carb quite lively. Let me talk to the guys upstairs tomorrow, and see what we can do. I don't want you guys to be sitting on bottles that you're not happy with.
