Oh the group isn't going anywhere. I just meant that's where we all met, we had that in common. And I liked using them for recruiting since they had such awesome exposure to the beer community.
Probably not a great analogy but it's kind of like you meet new friends at a bar and you hang out there for awhile and then it closes. So then you all go to a new bar.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but I'm still not seeing the whole picture. Were most of you banned, or did most of you decide to vacate after a few of your friends got reprimanded?

Banned. Just being here can get you banned. Liking a post can here can get you banned. Mentioned BT over there gets you banned or your profile erased etc. Pretty solid.

Many people were banned, but my guess is that most were not. Still, when people like MordorMongo, grumpyoldtroll, Markintihar, subpoenadueces, and oldp0rt are banned for basically no reason, it's something we all care about.

Man, I am so happy Stu decided to post this an hour before the Dave LIF started. :p;)

Great words Stu, I've been saying a lot of the same things lately. I am truly thankful I've met so many of the *********s I drink with in Chicago as a result of BA. Unfortunately, BA is the last place I would go for meaningful beer discussion now. A lot of intelligent, witty, veteran members have been run out and the place is full of greedy shitheads now.

Speaking of community, it's to see Levitation making a return. Of course his original post was deleted but cerealkillerKP's response at least let it be seen:

And it looks like he's been banned, just moments after he came back from the dead.

http://www.dingsbeerblog.com/?p=188 - I'm not a huge Ding fan, a little too curmudgeony for me, but from the short time I knew him on BA, he was not a troll.

http://www.beerinator.com/community/index.php?topic=2177.0 - from Ding's post- I believe this to be true as well.
Call me a conspiracy theorist but more and more this looks utterly planned. Much like the 07 cleaning and booting a lot of the older people, or shall I say, more passionate.
For them it looks like a clean slate, new beginning, whatever. In reality maybe it is better as a hobby site than anything else. Maybe that is the direction that they should have gone in a while ago.
Just my .05 cents, no pennies in Australia. Moderation got too heavy handed in the last few months

Thanks for trying to make a rational stand Stu. There's been a lot of irrational things said around here about/towards the bros. Probably by me, even. But as has been stated the bottom line is this isn't altogether different than 2007 (when I first lost an account ;) ).

BA is like a Grand Am GT, you think it has some power and you think she's got stylish lines, then you grow up and drive a REAL sports car with some ******* muscle and you have no use for that banging V6 power anymore. I'll always miss her, she was a fun ride.

I kept my head low during the first exodus, it wasn't pretty.

I know it's been knocked down countless times over there, but an off-topic forum would do wonders for all that pent up energy one accumulates while talking about something you love. Something veers off-topic, just throw it down there in the pit. If it begins to fester, then throw out some warnings.
