I have to say that the grain is the single greatest invention for home brewing. I dont have a pot with a spigot on it so i use the bag. I just pull the grains up and dunk them in the sparge water. A thing of beauty. Anyone else have another method?

Grain IS the best invention, and Thank God for it!

I also dunk them in water to sparge when I do a BIAB batch (usually for canning starter wort).

I disagree I think yeast is the most important, without you have nothing but sugar water.

That being said bags are nice. I do not mash in them qanymore but I do use them to strain the wort on the way to the fermenter. Place paint strainer bag over 5 gallon bucket, add wort, lift.
