Many people got completely shut out of nightcap because of their ****** communication about how much would be available and for how long.

Nobody got shut out of Nightcap. They got the two, and only two, that were guaranteed by the brewery. If you chose to sit around and wait until the last minute...well, no worm for you, then.

Tried to purchase Nightcap late yesterday afternoon (As i was guaranteed until 9/30 at 10:00am to order any additional bottles)..None available. Emailed (Got auto-reply), and then posted to FB and called. No answer.

CS Employee's were able to get a case, but cellar reserve members not able to purchase any additional, even though we're told we have until 9/30/2014 to do so. Cool. Really appreciate growler that we can't fill also. Really cool of you to do.

2014 Benefits:
-Right of first refusal to 2015 Cellar Reserve.

Crooked Stave..always putting the customer first.
Where were you guaranteed that you would be able to purchase until that date? That date/time was when the first round would close, initiating a reopening of the second round. No guarantees have ever been made beyond the two beers that come with the membership.

And your comment about the employee cases...has this beer even been bottled yet? Have you actually confirmed that employees got a case? And, beyond, that, who gives a **** if the employees got a case? You were guaranteed two beers. You got them. That you decided to procrastinate and not order in time is no one's fault but your own.

Your statement that "cellar reserve members not able to purchase any additional" is a complete lie that barely elicits discussion. Most of the folks that I've talked to, and many in this thread, did purchase an additional 6. Time for you to grow up and accept personal responsibility that YOU are the reason that you didn't get extras of the beer because YOU waited too long.

Maybe some folks emailed CS and received the following email, just like I did, and expected a business you've paid thousands of dollars to act with integrity

Hi XXXX,

Oh good! This is taking way longer to fix than we expected. All members will be able to max out during this round of sales.

Cheers,

This is where it goes from entitlement to poor customer service. You can paint with a broad brush if you want, but many people may have different work/life/financial situations than yourself. Maybe some people needed to wait until a payday, maybe they split their membership and were waiting for a final count, maybe some people were making final plans for GABF and weren't sure how much was available in their beer budget. I don't blame anyone who's mad who had the same assurance from Crooked Stave. If you didn't contact them directly and simply procrastinated then you don't have much room to complain.

Luckily there's some great people around here and I was able to get a few extra bottles. Others out of state may not be so lucky.

IMO, there's a legitimate gripe here for some people and this thread is a proper place for discussion and venting.

I see your point there, but then you post something like:

Highly doubtful. Remember, this is the brewery that built their brew house on an unprepared floor and gave members growlers that can't be filled with any of their beers. It seems planning more than a couple weeks ahead is difficult for the crooked stave crew.

and your comment about legitimacy, integrity, etc. loses credibility.

Look, I understand why you (and so far in this thread, only you) are upset by your specific set of circumstances here. But at the end of the day...throwing out random ******** lies about the brewery on the internet is so far from any sort of a solution. I think this kind of negativity does more harm than good. If you had posted your comment above instead of piling on with the whining crowd, then my response would have been different. And, just to be clear, my specific response that you quoted was directed at a different user and his/her comments, not to yours. I agree that my response in that case doesn't apply to your circumstance.

Usually I side with the "quit complaining, don't be so entitled" crowd but in this case there was a clear expectation that there would be enough bottles of nightcap for all members to purchase additional bottles during the proscribed period and to have them run out is very unfortunate and would fall into the "legitimate gripe" category.

I think what we need to do is recognize that there is a legitimate grape taking place here and then go enjoy all the wonderful people and beers that are in town for GABF.

There was an email that went out saying if we wanted to order additional bottles, we had until 9/30 at 10:00am MST to be guaranteed the additional allotment. Not my words, theirs. FishpondManager wasn't the only person to inquire about bottles when they had the issue a few weeks ago...a friend of mine had called and asked and was told they had no reason to worry, plenty of it to go around. I don't have this in e-mail, but it goes along with what everyone else has stated.

I wouldn't have said something if I didn't know for a fact it was true.

No, I'm actually not the reason. I was told I had until 9/30 at 10:00am MST to order to be guaranteed my additional allotment, at which point, extra's would go up for individual's to buy the remaining.

tl;dr - you're an angry individual in general. I'm sorry for any pain your parents may have put you through during childhood.

I personally bought all bottles available this round but I'm still pissed off at Crooked Stave. How dare they end their membership and worry about the local supporters? I'm gonna demand a full refund on my membership unless I get my damn right of refusal. They don't give a **** about their customers outside of the supporters in Denver. THE WORST.

I like how people get butthurt at people they call butthurt for being butthurt.

In this specific case I think those who were shut out early have every right to feel spurned. They hoped on a promise that wasn't delivered - after being reassured by the brewery that exactly that wouldn't happen.

I'm just happy that a lot of sold product wasn't infected; like the Bruery society...

HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT MA BREWERY LIKE THAT! WHINY ASS ********!

with regards to the Nightcap, you didn't have to "wait until the last minute" to find out that it had already sold out...

Any thoughts on the dry-hopped Surette Reserva? I had a pour last night, and considering its a CR beer, I thought it was pretty unimpressive. Apricot Petite however (not a CR beer) was phenominal. And Sour Cherry Pie was better than I expected.

I thought surette reserva was great. good juiciness brought from the hops and glad I bought a bunch of extra bottles of it. Surette is my favorite of their saisons though so not surprising. Hopefully they do a local release for some of the other fruited petite's. they have all been great.

Just playing devils advocate here, but what if the nightcap shortage was a result of people ordering more than they were supposed to and CS not catching it in time? It's entirely possible that people did their second round orders as soon as they got that email, isn't it? If the craft beer craze has proven anything, it's certainly that people are incapable of following simple instructions.

I've wondered if it's possibly due to the website order glitch when the allotments first went on sale...

I thought the dry hopped surette was great. I also really like both the fruited petite sours that are on tap. Mama Bears is very similar to cherry origins but they aren't the same beer. Mama Bears has more cherry and less bourbon, and its more sour. I wasn't planning on buying any and left with a case.

Also, they ran out of bottles of Batch 100 last night ( i bought the last 3 bottles) just in case anyone was planning on buying any there. You really should buy some because its ******* great.

Glad I stopped in last week and picked up a nice supply of B100

Notice the Batch 100 bought at the source versus the disto'd batch 100?
Wax is thicker, maybe double dipped, from the source.
Distro'd is very thin. Just an observation.

Did Mama Bears sell out last night? I'm going to be down in Denver tomorrow and was hoping to stop by and grab a few bottles.

sigh...

so I split a membership with a friend and we just got a email from CS this morning that they had an error on their end and had to cancel our initial allocation order for Dry-hopped Surette Reserva and Pluot (nevermind the Nightcap issue...), and that they could not resubmit our order as all of the bottles are now sold out, even though we have a confirmation of our order. Sarah says our money has been returned.
this leaves us with just the 2 bottles each that come with the Cellar Reserve.

this is now the 2nd time this has happened to us this year!

anyone else have weird issues with them this year?

Never happened to me or anyone I trustee for. If it has none of them has said anything to me about it

Yes, this happened to me once last year with one of my orders. I received an email with a confirmation/transaction number but at the bottom in very small print it said "your transaction was not completed". I didn't see the small print and when I went to pickup and they said they didn't have any extras for me. I pulled the email up on my phone and the two people who looked at the email first didn't see the small print in the bottom of the email, then they brought Chad out and he noticed it. They were able to go back and honor my original order since he ran it through with the exact same information and it all worked. I would push a little bit harder to see if you can get your original order honored. I am sure they hold onto a couple of extra bottles of each beer and could likely meet one more order.

I had 6 and 6 in my cart during the recent final sale, and put the order through at 10am MST, and thought it went through but never got confirmation and apparently it didn't go through (using cell phone). Was in NYC and rushing to a job site tho, so may very well have been a signal issue or my own fault in some way.

That is super weird. Do they really not have any extras leftover that they were holding onto for future or self use or anything? I find it hard to believe that every single bottle was sold and there are no others left.

They definitely hold some back. I don't know how much but they broke some bottles as they brought them out to my vehicle at the last release and they replaced them
